UNIT – V TROUBLE

SHOOTING AND
APPLICATIONS
TROUBLE SHOOTING
INTRODUCTION

• The maximum trouble-free life of the fluid power systems mainly

depend on the following four basic requirements
• Properly installed requirements
• Properly trained personnel
• Planned preventive maintenance
• Efficient troubleshooting
INSTALLATION OF HYDRAULIC SYSTEM

• Visual inspection for transport damage and contamination

• Setting up and fitting
• Electrical installation
• Filing the reservoir with the specified hydraulic fluid
• Filling the pump housing
• Opening the valves on the suction lines
• Setting the valves
• Charging the accumulators
• Checking the correct direction of pump rotation
• Bleeding the system
• Checking hydraulic fluid level
• Final valve setting and placing the machine in operation
• Monitoring the operation temperature
• Repairing leaks
• Cleaning filters
MAINTENANCE OF A HYDRAULIC SYSTEM

• Inspection
• Service
• Repair – 1. trouble shooting
2. repair
INSTALLATION OF PNEUMATIC SYSTEM

• Plant installation – normally for compressed air generation and

distribution
• System / machine installation – it is for connecting all pneumatic
actuators
MAINTENANCE OF PNEUMATIC SYSTEM

• Compressors have their own maintenance requirements. ( belt condition and

tension to be checked at regular intervals)
• Crankcase oil level and the air breather should also be checked
• Compressor efficiency
• Check the safety valve operation
• System pressure should be recorded and checked against design values
• Too high pressure setting wastes energy and shortens operational life
• Filters should be changed before they blocked
• Regular checking of Seals and bushing in cylinders
