Problem #1: A gas turbine handles a gas with a mass flow rate of 24.6kg/s.

The stagnation
pressure and stagnation temperature at stage entry are 6.2 bar and 1421K. Pressure ratio in the
nozzle (p01/p02) is 2.32 and nozzle efficiency is 0.93. Determine the axial velocity and degree of
reaction for the stage, given that flow coefficient is 0.82. Assume that blade mean speed is 334
m/s; cp = 1.148 kJ/kgK and R = 0.287 kJ/kgK. Determine work done of the stage. Given that
speed of the rotor as 1200 rpm, find mean diameter.

axial velocity 184 m/s. The stagnation temperature at entry and exit of nozzle row are 1200 K
