Summary: Analyst to assist in the evaluation of insured municipal issuers and their related
bonds. The analyst will report to the Head of Surveillance.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Build America Mutual’s surveillance analysts are a key component of the company’s risk
management structure and culture. Analysts in this department are responsible for monitoring
a portfolio of insured credits and developing expertise in identifying and evaluating emerging
risks across specific sectors within BAM’s portfolio, which they will apply to individual credit
reviews, as well as when presenting broader sector reports to the Surveillance Committee.
Credit Analysts also will be expected to help train more junior analysts on fundamental credit
analysis.

Qualifications/Requirements:

• 1-3 years experience in municipal bond/credit analysis

• Excellent analytical and municipal credit skills
• Proficiency with Excel, Word, Powerpoint
• Superior written and oral communication
• Ability to work both independently and within a team
• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, economics or business, or related fields
• Prior bond insurance and/or rating agency experience is a plus
• Prior experience in working on large data analysis projects and/or with internal IT
group to design internal system enhancements are a significant plus
