INSTITUTIONAL LEARNING PLAN

Unit Topic: The Real Number System (1 Week)

Sub-Topic: (Scientific Notation & Problems Involving Real Numbers)

(Grade 7 - Tarsier)
(Grade 7 - Mooncat)

Content Standard:

 Demonstrates understanding of key concepts of sets and the real number system.

Performance Standard:

 Is able to formulate challenging situations involving sets and real numbers and solve these in a
variety of strategies.

Learning Competencies:

 Writes numbers in scientific notation and vice versa.

 Represents real-life situations and solves problems involving real numbers.

Transfer Goal:

 The students on their own and in the long run will be able to perform independently the
knowledge and skills on estimating square root and plotting irrational numbers for the application
in different situations involving square root.

Essential Questions:

1. How to write decimals in scientific notation and vice versa?

2. Why do we need to study scientific notation?
3. Where do we use the concept of Real Numbers?

Enduring Understanding:

The student will be able to understand that decimals can write as scientific notation and vice versa,
scientific notation is used to express large numbers and for precise writing of numerical data, and
understanding real numbers will help solve real-life problems.
