also mentioned in the essay. It is one of the negative effect when it comes to social media. The person
that they are bullying may suffer from depression and end up killing him/herself.
2. What is the author’s position towards the issue?
-He inform us readers that we should not use Social Media in a negative way. So that the numbers of
cyberbullies may lessen
3. What are some positive effects of social media according to the essay?
The social media have secured an efficient and effective avenue of
connecting lives across borders. People are fond of expressing their opinions in any way
possible, and social media is widely tapped to satisfy such desire. Also, the internet has been
a tool that stimulates healthy discussion of socially-relevant issues. Take Gretchen Diez for
example, a member of the LGBT community who had caused an online outrage upon sharing
her experience of being kicked out of a woman’s bathroom for her sexual orientation. Since
then, moral discussions and debates have risen from this issue.

pursuing. And most importantly, if an action poses potential of destroying someone else’s life despite
it being a good source of fun – it shouldn’t be done at all.
5. Do you agree with the essay’s proposition? Why? Why not?
Yes, because it is well stated, In encourage everyone to change and to tell them the negative effects
of social medias in our life. By this essay, we can fully understand that we can still live even there’s no
social media.

Activity 3
INTRODUCTION- The present digital rise has allowed the integration of smartphones, the internet,
and social media – to name a few – in the population’s daily habits. However, alongside this
technological evolution is a culture of virtual harassment, whereas anonymity in the digital
world is taken advantage of by proprietors seeking good laughs without any consideration of
its large-scale negative effects.

STATEMENT OF CASE-Cyberbullying is the use of social media and any device connected to the
internet to inflict emotional and social abuse to anyone being. Millennials, constituting 93% of the
internet users around the world are considered the most vulnerable to this kind of abuse.

PROPOSITION-While putting a halt on cyberbullies and their malicious remarks would be a good
idea, the underlying solution to this problem is removing the culture of dependence on remarks
yielded from this platform, anchored on the philosophy that technology does not and will never
define someone or dictate his ways of life.
REFUTATION-Undoubtedly, social media have secured an efficient and effective avenue of
connecting lives across borders.

SUBSTANTIATION-However, the fabrication of false stories, emergence of parodies and memes, and
cyber abuse that came thereafter was absolutely uncalled-for. Such attacks, taking form in a
variety of ways, are directly linked to mental health issues such as depression and anxiety.
The victim, upon excessive exposure to such negativities, may suffer from self-consuming
thoughts that incidentally lead to suicide or attempts of such.

CONCLUSION-And here is where the validation becomes relevant. If only people would quit the
mindset claiming that social media is everything then such outcomes won’t take place. It is
primarily because of the fact that a lot of people take digitally-generated statements too
seriously that they suffer the consequences and risk their lives. Once cyberbullying is
experienced, the chief solution should be the refusal to respond at all, since the latter could
only escalate the problem. On later stages, deactivation – whether tentative or long-term –
would be ideal to completely detoxify from social media. Furthermore, once it takes a toll on
someone’s mental health, then consultation to psychologists for professional health is the way
to go.
However, it all boils down to keeping true to the essence of this platform – to connect
and disconnect. We should connect to people with similar interests to us, and disconnect from
those who won’t do any good. We should ponder upon the consequence of every click before
pursuing. And most importantly, if an action poses potential of destroying someone else’s life
– despite it being a good source of fun – it shouldn’t be done at all.

Part B. Should kids 10 years-old below be allowed to go out of their residence?

Nowadays, kids especially 10 years-old below are the most jolly, most, innocent, and they are just
enjoying their life as a kids. These ages are the one we have to look for or to check for because they
don’t have that much experiences compared to us adults.

According to my research, some of parents letting their 10 years old kids to go out on their own and
some of some parents don’t. I think it is because to they are different on how they raise their kids.
Some parents thinks that they kids should be independent so theit kids will be trained and ready
when they are grown up but some of the parents think that they have to look or to check their kids
because it is dangerous for them to let their kids go out on their own.

Letting or allowing our kids especially when they are 10 years-old below to go out is really
dangerous for me. Why? Because in this age they are not that independent. They are so many
negative effects of letting our kids on our own to go out without our permission and guidance.
By letting them go on their own, they can freely do their wants without our permission and that is
really disrespectful. They will learn to disobey you and they will learn to not ask for you permission
anymore.

There are some negative effects on letting our kids on their own and some of these are, (A 8 years
old girl kidnapped aroung 9:30 am in Malabon City after she buy her ice cream near their house, (A
7 years old boy found dead after getting hit by a car because he cross the street on his own),(A 10
years old girl was being raped by someone because she go out on her own without her guardian )
These negative effects are the reasons why we should have to look and check on our kids. These are
the reasons why I disagree to allowing them to go out on their own.

ALl I can say about this topic is that we have to prohibit or to take care of our childrean especially
10-years-old below. These kids doesn’t have that much experience going out on their own so we
have to make a limitations so we can make sure that they are safe. We adults must educate them
that going outside on their own is really dangerous. We have to tell them that if they are going to
go out make sure that they are with their guardian.

ADDITIONAL ACTIVITY

Title: Should Filipinos allowed to study Abroad

(INTRODUCTION) (Context/Background)

Much of our learning takes place outside the classroom. We learn how to maintain budgets,
forge friendships, develop business relationships, and more. Imagine extending those skills on
a global level. We would immediately cease to believe the world only contains the people and
things we can see but, rather, a wide variety of opinions, customs, beliefs, and ethics. This is
why every college-level student must study abroad during their undergraduate years. They
will learn more in that semester abroad than in any other academic year.

(Body) (Statement of Case)

a company that encourages students to become international leaders, students who study
abroad are more likely to be accepted into the graduate degree program of their choice. In
fact, 90% of students who studied abroad are admitted to their first or second choice for
graduate school.

(Body) (Proposition)

Imagine walking into an interview and being able to discuss preparing the most popular dish
in India or organizing the best route to take from Sydney, Australia to Perth. Not only does
this strike up a memorable conversation, but it also demonstrates a student’s fierce
independence and determination. All this makes someone who has studied abroad a more
desirable candidate for their dream job. As if IES Abroad’s statistic above was not astounding
enough, it has been proven that 97% of students who study abroad find employment within
12 months of graduation (Smith, 2019, p. 17).

(Body ) (Refutation)
Beyond college, students who study abroad will be better equipped to succeed in the
workplace. Their broadened worldview will help them relate to their co-workers, especially in a
worldwide organization. This increased scope of knowledge allows 25% of students who study
abroad to receive higher starting salaries. That is clear evidence that their experiences and
views are valued by employers.

(Body) (Substantiatuon/Proof)

In spite of all these benefits, some parents simply will not allow their children to study abroad.
A portion will argue that it is not safe. Others will argue that studying abroad costs too much
money. In these cases, it is important to take a look at one semester’s financial aid statement.
How much does it cost to be a student at a local university? When tuition, housing, textbooks,
transportation, and meal plans are considered, it becomes difficult to argue that there’s a
stark difference in the cost of a semester at home versus a semester abroad.

(Conclusion)

Studying abroad will have long-lasting, positive implications on a student’s future as an

academic and a professional. New windows of opportunity will be flung open the moment an
undergraduate boards a plane. Why not make an appointment with the study abroad center
at your university? You have nothing to lose by starting a conversation today
