Keeping in mind with the COVID- 19 pandemic situation, the program was
conducted with social distancing, hand hygiene precautions our Department of
Physician Assistant, School of Biosciences, conducted a Workshop on‘ACLS
&BLS’ by Dr. Ayammal, HOD of NICU, Paediatrics Intensivist of G.
Kuppuswamy Naidu Memorial Hospital followed by Dr.S.Sabarish, Emergency
consultant of KMCH along Mr.Ramesh Coordinator, Indian Institute of
Emergency Medical Services and with extended arm of Dr.A.Vijayalakshmi Dean,
School of Bioscience.

The Programme was started with prayer song. Welcome address was given by
Mrs. Brammu.D., Assist Professor, Department of Physician Assistant. Our Faculty
members and students of IV year Physician Assistant Departments were present in
the inauguration. The course provided by Indian Institute of Emergency Medical
Services on ACLS & BLS was planned for 3 consecutive days where students were
taught both theoretically and practically through power point presentations and
demo with mannequins. In addition study materials were also distributed to the
students. The special lecture by Mr. Ramesh, Coordinator, IIEMS was very much
informative and the students gained more knowledge and skill related to Basic life
Support and the importance of CPR.

The power point presentation and the videos were very much useful and aids in
better understanding of case scenarios related to Cardiac or respiratory arrest. The
practical session was interactive and the guest trainer, trained the students to
perform an effective CPR on the mannequins. The guest cleared the queries
aroused by the students .The evaluators evaluated the students both in pre and post
training sessions and scoring was dine as per each students‘s skill . At the end of
the third day, students got the certificates. Student’s feedback was given by Ms.
J.Jacquline Kim.IV year B.Sc.Physician Assistant . The session ended with vote of
thanks by Mrs Uma Devi.A., Assistant Professor,Department of Physician
Assistant
