circular motion in flying carousel
- To investigate that the angular
velocity, mass and theta can
affect the motion

-magnet
thEORY
Circular motion is a movement of an object
while rotating along a circular path.
Circular motion can be either uniform or
non-uniform.
uniform circular motion the angular rate of
rotation and speed will be constant
non-uniform motion the rate of rotation
keeps changing.

vary speed

As angular speed (w) increases, the

angle in which the object bends
from y-axis getting larger
in this part, we use Theta from experiment part to calculate for angular
speed (W) needed to obtained the selected angles, then convert to rpm,
finally compare the rpm error.

from the equation

from vary speed
vary mass
compare big mass and small mass

Big mass small mass

Experimental Value

Theoretical value
from vary mass
vary Angle
-The side of carousel that approaching x-
axis, The gravitational acceleration will
make velocity and the angle increase

-The side of carousel that approaching

y-axis, The velocity and angle will
decrease because we resist the
gravitational acceleration
conclusion
-from theory angular velocity
directly proportional to gravitational
acceleration and theta

-From our experiment we can conclude that the value we get

from the experiment is nearly to theoretical value, but
little different come from the presence of friction, air
resistance and environmental disturbance
discussion

From the equation, mass(m) doesn't affect the angle that

an object bends from y-axis or angular speed (W)

But practically, the mass affect the Theta because of the

center of mass, air resistance, etc.
- To compare, rpm that we use in the experiment is 84 (real rpm).
- from theory, to make the object bends around 63 degree, it would need
lower rpm to obtain this angle. In theory there is not contain friction
- in the experiment there are frictions at the motor, air resistance, etc.
With this, that's why the real rpm is greater than theoretical rpm
- Measurement is come from the scale reading
- A little different in theta due to air resistance, but
in theory mass doesn't affect the theta

- by using picture then measure the length from computer's

screen, and find theta to compare with the scale reading
From the experiment different mass can affect the theta (A little). But in real life
we can observe that many people have different mass but it not affect , so if the
mass has effect to circular motion, people who play carousel will hit other people
Future use
-Use as model of rides in amusement park,
study how its work before build them
-Study the circular motion
-improve the sensor
