A To you I lift up my eyes who are enthroned in heaven

B As the eyes of servants are on the hands of their masters.

A As the eyes of a maid are on the hands of her mistress,

B So are our eyes on the Lord, our God, till he have pity on us.

A Have pity on us, O Lord, have pity on us

B For we are more than sated with con-tempt;
A Our souls are more than sated with the mockery of the ar-rogant,
B With the contempt of the proud.

I will hear what God proclaims;

The Lord – for He pro-claims peace.
Near indeed is his salvation to those who fear him,
Glory dwelling in our land.

Kindness and truth shall meet;

Justice and peace shall kiss.
Truth shall spring out of the earth,
And justice shall look down from heaven.

The Lord himself will give his benefits;

Our land shall yield its increase.
Justice shall walk before him,
And prepare the way of his steps.

A The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want.

B In verdant pastures he gives me re-pose;
A Beside restful waters he leads me;
B He refreshes my soul.

A He guides me in right paths for his name’s sake.

B Even though I walk in the dark valley I fear no evil;
A For you are at my side with your rod
B And your staff that give me courage.

A You spread the table before me in the sight of my foes;

B You anoint my head with oil; my cup o-ver-flows.

A Only goodness and kindness follow me all the days of my life;

B And I shall dwell in the house of the Lord for years to come.
