OLYMPIAD COMPETITION

ENGLISH ANNUAL STUDENT TOURNAMENT (EAST) 2021

HIGH SCHOOL

EAST 2021 Olympiad is a tournament branch which challenges students from senior high
schools in Indonesia, to compete in their English language skills. There are 3 (three) rounds
that will be conducted online, determining the 3 (three) winners from approximately 30
(thirty) to 65 (sixty five) participants.
RULES:
A. General
● Participants are not allowed to conduct any kind of cheating method during the
competition.
● Participants are not allowed to ask for help from a third-party during the competition.
● Participants are not allowed to use the internet to look for possible answers during the
competition.
● Any participant who is caught conducting any form of cheating will ultimately be
disqualified.

B. Preliminary Round
● The maximum participants of the Preliminary Round are 65 (sixty five) participants.
● The Preliminary Round will be held on Friday, October 22th 2021, at 16.00 WIB.
● The Preliminary Round will be conducted online through e-ujian.com. The link of the
test will be informed at the Technical Meeting.
● All participants who have registered themselves will receive username and password to
access the test. The username and password will be sent through email on the day after
each batch has closed. For example, a participant has finished the registration within the
period of Batch 1, then the email is expected to be received the day after Batch 1 closes.
● Participants should be logged in to the competition platform 25 (twenty five) minutes
min. prior to the event.
● Participants will be doing multiple choice questions to prove their skill in Reading
Comprehension along with Structure and Written Expression.
● The duration for this round is 90 minutes.
● During this round, participants will be asked to turn on the device’s camera. Therefore,
participants are suggested to have a good internet connection.
● Upcoming rules about the round will be explained further in the technical meeting.

C. Semifinal Round
● The maximum participants of the Semifinal Round are 30 (thirty) participants.
● The Semifinal Round will be held on Saturday, October 23th 2021, at 09.00 WIB.
 ● The Semifinal Round will be conducted online through e-ujian.com. The link of the test
will be informed at the Technical Meeting.
● All participants who have registered themselves will receive username and password to
access the test. The username and password will be sent through email on the day after
each batch has closed. For example, a participant has finished the registration within the
period of Batch 1, then the email is expected to be received the day after Batch 1 closes.
● Participants should be logged in to the competition platform 25 (twenty five) minutes
min. prior to the event.
● Participants will be doing multiple choice questions to prove their skill in Reading
Comprehension, Listening Comprehension, along with Structure and Written
Expression.
● The duration for this round is 75 minutes.
● During this round, participants will be asked to turn on the device’s camera. Therefore,
participants are suggested to have a good internet connection.
● Upcoming rules about the round will be explained further in the technical meeting

D. Final Round
● The maximum participants of the Final Round are 5 (five) participants.
● The Final Round will be conducted online through submission on Google Form.
● Participants will be given a statement which has to be developed into an argumentative
essay. The statement and the information of the submission’s deadline will be informed
after the Semifinal Round.
● The essay should not contain any controversial issues such as discrimination, racism,
pornography, etc. The participants are not allowed to conduct any form of plagiarism.
● The judging criteria for the essay will be grammar, fluidity, structure, originality, and
conformity to the theme.
● Upcoming rules about the round will be explained further in the technical meeting.

A. Champion
B. 1st Runner Up
C. 2nd Runner Up

REGISTRATION FEE:
A. Batch 1: Rp 85.000,00/participant
B. Batch 2: Rp 100.000,00/participant

TECHNICAL MEETING
● All participants are obligated to join the Technical Meeting that will be conducted on
Zoom platform. The Technical Meeting will be held along with the Opening Ceremony
on Thursday, 21th October 2021.
 ● If the participant can’t attend the Technical Meeting, then the participant must contact
the Liaison Officer.

REGULATIONS:
● Participants of the competition are students of senior high schools across Indonesia.
● Each school is allowed to send participants to a maximum number of 3 (three) students.
Face-to-face teacher supervision is not required nor encouraged since the competition
will be conducted online.
● All participants who have registered would be required to join the WhatsApp group for
the competition to receive directions and information from the committee during the
event (link-sharing, winner announcement, etc.)
● All participants should register to the committee and communicate regularly with their
liaison officers.
