Non-Government Organization (NGO)

A non-governmental organization (NGO) is a non-profit group that functions

independently of any government. NGOs, sometimes called civil societies, are

organized on community, national and international levels to serve a social or political

goal such as humanitarian causes or the environment. A non-profit Company can be

registered under section 8 of Companies Act with the Registrar of Companies. To start,

setup and run social entrepreneurship as in form of NGO, the founder(s) must be with a

team decide and organize team of the members that will be the board of directors of the

organization. NGOs ensure development which essentially involves the equal

participation of the people. They play an important role in educating and motivating

people to fight for their rights. Education: The NGOs actively work for promoting

education, particularly among weaker sections of the population .

NGO's are bodies which function free from the control of governmental control. These

are said to be nonprofit governmental bodies which work for the welfare of societies.

They act as a mediator between society and government. These NGO's set their own

rules and eligibility terms for people to be a member. NGOs take up and execute

projects to promote welfare of the community they work with. They work to address

various concerns and issues prevailing within the society. NGOs are not-for-profit

bodies which means they do not have any commercial interest. Non-governmental

Organizations (NGOs) play an important role in the economic development of

developing countries. They provide services to society through welfare works for

community development, assistance in national disasters, sustainable system

development, and popular movements. The primary objective of NGOs is to provide
social justice, development and human rights. NGOs are generally funded totally or

partly by governments and they maintain their non-governmental status by excluding

government representatives from membership in the organization. Non-Governmental

Organization (NGO), voluntary group of individuals or organizations, usually not

affiliated with any government that is formed to provide services or to advocate a public

policy. Although some NGOs are for-profit corporations, the vast majority are nonprofit

organizations. NGOs seek to "achieve small-scale change directly through

projects”, mobilizing financial resources, materials, and volunteers to create local

programs. They hold large-scale fundraising events and may apply to governments and

organizations for grants or contracts to raise money for projects. Operational NGOs

often have a hierarchical structure; their headquarters are staffed by professionals who

plan projects, create budgets, keep accounts, and report to and communicate with

operational fieldworkers on projects. They are most often associated with the delivery of

services or environmental issues, emergency relief, and public welfare. Operational

NGOs may be subdivided into relief or development organizations, service-delivery or

participatory, religious or secular, and public or private. Although operational NGOs may

be community-based, many are national or international. The defining activity of an

operational NGO is the implementation of projects. NGOs are usually funded by

donations, but some avoid formal funding and are run by volunteers. NGOs may have

charitable status, or may be tax-exempt in recognition of their social purposes. Others

may be fronts for political, religious, or other interests. Since the end of World War II,

NGOs have had an increased role in international development, particularly in the fields

of humanitarian assistance and poverty alleviation. The function of NGO is to focus on

all the issues concerning human rights, social, environmental and advocacy. They work

to promote and improve the social and political conditions of the society on a broad

scale. Some of the functions of NGO are: Human rights and child rights. Poverty

eradication.

NGOs need to find the right balance data analytics is the perfect tool to help find that

balance. Data science allows NGOs to work smarter and create more targeted outreach

efforts. Predictive analytics algorithms allow NGOs to identify the people most likely to

donate to their cause.

This recommendation looks at the legal and fiscal framework of NGOs in the member states

to ensure they can continue to make a valuable contribution to public and social life. The

document recognizes different types of NGOs, such as formal (registered) and informal,

membership based and those without required membership, established both by individuals

and groups. It states that NGOs should be free to pursue their objectives, but they should

be consistent with the principles of a democratic society. NGOs should not be subject to

direction from any public authority. The document provides guidelines on issues relevant to

NGOs, such as: establishment of an organization, the content of legal documents (statutes),

membership, acquisition of legal personality, management, fundraising, public support and

accountability. The document includes an explanatory memorandum that explains in detail

the content of the recommendation.
