COMPETITION RULES
• The competition theme is open for the competitor to create whatever their

Competitor Check-In Begins
12:30pm
• Models and Competitors must report to the competition area one (1) hour
before the start of each competition.
• Due to the limited time, all appliances and devices may be done in advance,
but may not be applied until the start of the competition is announced. If
using prosthetics – all material needs to be made by the competitor.
• The model’s skin must be prepared prior to the start of the competition.
• No talking allowed during competition unless it assists in the makeup
application.
• Hair and clothing must be completed before the start of the competition.
Both may be completed by other people under the competitor’s supervision.
• If the look is not completed at the end of the allotted time – the entry is
judged as it stands.

SPX/Fantasy Makeup • All makeup must be done by the competitor.

1:30pm - 3:30pm
• No assistants to the model or competitor are allowed during the competition.
Awards
4:30pm • All models and competitors must sign a release form giving permission for
photos and video to be used by Professional Beauty Association, ISSE Long
Beach and the California Makeup Academy.

Decision of the judges is final.

JUDGING
GUIDELINES
Judging will be done during and after the competition. Each competitor will
be scored on a 10-point scale, with 10 being the highest possible score,
on 6 different evaluation categories.

1. Theme
2. Originality of design
3. Creativity
4. Use of colors
5. Use of materials
6. Techniques

POINTS DEFINITION

1-2 Little or no evidence of preparation, effort & effectiveness

3-4 Minimum effectiveness
5-6 Average planning, execution and final look
7-8 Good preparation, effort and planning - clear defined style
9-10 Superior preparation, effort and results - a unique style
