1. A 150mm thick HCS slab with 6 strands at the bottom was subjected to a load test at the Casa Grande Project to determine its load capacity.
2. Over the course of two days, the slab was loaded in increments with bags of aggregate to a maximum load of 10.37 kN/m2 using 313 bags weighing 7825kg.
3. Cracks formed at three places near the ends of the slab at this maximum load on the first day of testing. Deflections of the slab were monitored throughout the loading and unloading.
