Nationally Determined Contributions

(NDCs)
The Paris Agreement and NDCs
NDC is the acronym of “Nationally Determined Contribution”. These are the environment and
climate plans, policies and measures of a country for its contribution towards Global Climate Action.
Nationally determined contributions(NDCs) are the core of Paris Agreement. The Paris Agreement’s
Article 4, para. 2 requires each country to make, communicate and set up nationally determined
contributions (NDCs) that it anticipates to achieve. Parties shall carry out domestic improvement
measures, with the aim of achieving the objectives of such contributions. As each country has different
circumstances, reserves and capabilities, the agreement was created so each country defines her own
pledges, in terms of targets and contributions to the global agreement. These pledges are the NDCs. 195
nations aimed to play their part to set on earth on a course of sustainable development and by limiting and
mitigating all negative impacting factors. Global warming can be reduced to 1.5 to 2 oC. They also aimed
to increase the ability to mitigate the adverse effects of climate change and adapt themselves to foster
climate resilience and low greenhouse gas emissions development.
