Formative Assessment 1
A. List down three (3) processes involved in each of the following:
1. Measurement
a. Identifying and defining the quality or attribute that is to be measured;
b. Determining a set of operations by which the attribute may be made manifest and perceivable;
and
c. Establishing a set of procedures or definitions for translating observations into quantitative
statements of degree or amount.

2. Assessment
a. Formative assessment (monitors learning progress)
b. Diagnostic assessment ( identifies causes of learning problems)
c. Summative assessment ( measures end of course achievement)

3. Evaluation
a. Process of judging the quality of a performance or course of action.
b. Finding the value of an educational task.
c. Carried out both by the teacher and the student to uncover how the learning process is
developing.

B. Differentiate each of the following pairs using your own words; examples may be cited to
further clarify meaning.

1. Measurement and Evaluation


 Measurement – to measure the ability of the students of what he or she has
learned in the lesson.
 Evaluation – uses a method to measure of what students have learned in
the lesson.
2. Assessment and Evaluation
 Assessment – provides feedback
Ex: The Instructor/Teacher give a lesson to see how students have learnt.
 Evaluation – provides closure
Ex: The Instructor reviews the work of the student in order to give a grade
or to have a conclusions from examining.
3. Formative Evaluation and Summative Evaluation
 Formative Evaluation – to see the improvement of the students and
provides ongoing feedback to instructor and students.
 Summative Evaluation – involves making judgments about the student
learning at the end of a topic.
4. Standardized and Classroom Assessment
 Standardized – uses a method to tests the students of why they are
struggling and accelerating.
 Classroom Assessment – measures of what has been learned of the
students at the end of a instructional unit.
