Dear Dr. Garma:

Saceda Youth Lead, a Youth Sen'ing hrstitr.rtion under the auspices of the National Youth
Commission, would like to propose a 3-day Region Wide Leadership Development Training with the
Emphasis on Public Speaking tor SPG and SSG Leaders and Teacher Advisers.

SYL, witlt its 19 year track record in leadership training development in the ASEAN and West
African regious. contiuues empowedng elementary, high school and college students and even
professionals to become most effective citizens by providirrg them opporlunities in leadership, community
service and exchange.

Our proposetl dates will be on August ll-13,2017. And our proposed venue for the training
will be in DepEd Division of Bulacan Province.

The Registration Fee is P600 per student leader/ teacher adviser to cover the, kits. ID's
certiflcates etc.. P400 will go to SYL Team and P200 will go to the host team for the provision snacks lbr
all participants and other logistical support such as PA system, LCD projectors and rental of venue.

We employ an experiential learning with strong emphasis on skills and values lbnuation;
teamwork and leadership development. We hope you can support this cause and we will be glad to come
to conduct this training.

LEADERSHIP DEVELOPMENT TRAINING
With Emphasis on Leadership Development and Public Speaking

Target Participants:
Officers (President, Vice President, Secretary. Treasurer. Auditor, PRO) and the Members of the
Pupil and Student Government l,eaders; and other interested students who would like to develop
their leadership potentials.

All Supervisors, Principals and Teachers of the Division

Ovewiew:
The Student Government Leadership Training is a 3-day intensive program, emphasizes on
necessary beneficial and practical approaches to better leadership development. The intensive
program will explore analytical llameworks employing the leadership strategies with proper
decision making skills. Participants will build skills and refine values as they perform team
exercises which will provide greater inspiration for the self to ettect change in the families,
communities and the nation.

Objectives:

In Leadership Development, the participants will...


l. Awaken their giants within througlr series of rvorkshops and dynamics of the summer camp.
2. Expose students to concepts in leadership through intemotion and lectures;
3. Equip student leaders the necessary skills and values needed for life so ilrat they can achieve self-
reliance and maturity;
4. Meet local leaders and gain inspiration fiom them
5. Provide enrichrnent in the education of the youth through leadership dlmamics, teamwork and
group activities.
6. Train and elnpowsr student leaders to become future leaders of the country and;
7. Promote peace and mutual understanding among the youth through leadership and social action

In Public Speaking, the participants will...


l. defeat natural public speaking fears
2. develop and exude confidence and gain audience trust
3. create a sincere rapport u,ith audience
4. know the technique in turning "speech into a convemation"
5. develop eye contact, gestures and timing for maximum effect
6. know how to write effective speeches
7. increase ability to use humor safely and eff'ectively.
The program activities and modules are centered on the following:

PROFOSALS
r The training rvill cost Six Hundred Pesos (Php 600.00) P400 wiil go for SYL Team's
transportation and honorarium, provision of training materials such as handouts, kits,
ID's, certificates; P200 will be given to the host team to prepare AM and PM snacks,
drinking water, rental of venue. PA System, LCD Projectors. etc.
o The registration fee can be solicited from family members like parents, grandparents,
uncles and aunties or PTA fiuids.
. The provisions of meals can be arranged with the host as long as there will be an
additional amount for meals; or
o Meals such as lunches shall be on personal account.
. Proposed training date and venue will be decided by your team
r Target number of participants is 300 for student leaders and teachers.
r Responsibility of the Training Team: (1) To give hand outs and training materials, (2) To
deliver the training through lectures and group dynamics and group workshops
. Responsibilify of the Host Team: (l) To select the date and venue of the training and (2)
To provide accommodation to the facilitators and delegates at a local school, and; (3) to
assist in the registration ofparticipants;

Methodology
The training will be conducted through lecture, solid group discussions and dynarnics and
intellectual and practical workshops.

ABOUT SACEDA YOUTH LEAD


Saceda Youth Lead is a Youth Serving Institution of the Philippines under the auspices of the
National Youth Commission of the Philippines. For 19 years now, it continues empowering
elementary, high school and coilege students and even professionals to become most etTective
citizens of our courtry by providing them opporfunities in leadership, community service and
exchange and builds leadership through education and action.

SYL believes that through our youth and our teachers we will see the future of our
country and through their good deeds we will prosper as one nation. It believes that education is
the backbone of our economy and it needs greater partnership and collaboration with other
instifutions to empower the Filipino Youth to become better citizens of our country by providing
them opportunities in leadership. communiry service and social action. It believes in the ripples
of modest beginnings that societal transformation must start from within and that involves
training and awakening of the self; given the chance and guidance, one can become an agent of
change for Cod and country.

Saceda Youth Lead will be an Affiliate Member of the United Nations World Tourism
Organizations in 2017 (affiliation is rn progress), a Registered Member of the Philippine
National Volunteer Service Coordinating Agency of the National Economic and Development
Authority (NEDA), registered as a Youth Serving Institution under the auspices of the National
Youth Commission. It is a recognized NGO on youth empowerment and development by the
Charter for Compassion, Harvard University Alumni Association of the Philippines, Ngee Ann
Polytechnic of Singapore, Departtrent of Youth and Sports, Brunei Darussalam and the Berg
Institute, along with the recognition from the Department of Education, and Commission on
Fligher Education. It has empowered more than 200,000 youths ancl teachers in all its programs
and activities in the Philippines, the ASEAN and tlre West African regions.

WHAT WE DO
In partnership with, and the recognition of the National Youth Commission, Department of
Education, and Conrmission on Higher Education, SYL has empowered more than 200,000
youths and teachers in all its programs and activities in the Philippines and the ASEAN region.

Through our partnership in youth development, SYL is a member of the World Associations of
NGO's of the United Nations, Inter:national Leadership Academy and the Innovations for Civic
Engagements. It was awarded 2004 Ten Accomplished Youth Organizations of the Philippines
for Visayas: 2005 National Award on Youth Empowerment and awarded Distinguished Service
for Youth l-radership conferred by the HOBY Foundation during the World Leadership
Congress, Washington DC, USA. Today, it has its ou,'n leadership center for its various trainings
and programs. It has opened its own leadership high school in Dumaguete-the only leadership
school in Negros Oriental. It runs 60 annual programs in training and development, ventures and
intemational exchange. SYL is a selt'-sustained organization and has undertaken a TV
documentary entitled Continents' Journey of the World assessing the GRAPEEES (geography,
religion, arts and architechrres, politics and history, education, environment, economy and social
struchres) and how these gtapeees have shaped the country and its performance.

CORE LECTURERS

DAVE G. SACEDA
The past 19 years was spent empowering core values and leadership skills to elementary, high school and
college students as well as educators. As chair and founder of Saceda Youth Lead, he successfully
established Youth Leadership Initiatives to schools and universities in the Phitippines and the Asian
region; conducted various trainings on Faculty Development and erected SYL School- a leadership high
school in the Philippines and author of ILLS OUTWEIGH THRILL$ 7 Deadly Sins in Teaching and I
am Rich and so are You!

Armed with a BA degree major in History fiom Silliman University (cum laude/most outstanding student
of the yearl university talent awardee for piano and voice, team captain of the SU Varsity Swim Team),
and lntemational Relations from the Intemational Christian University, Tokyo, Japan, he ventured into
myriad leadership programs in several countries. He earned his Post Graduate degree in Leadership and
Change from the John F. Kennedy School of Government, Harvard University. Dr. Saceda explains
"Through the youth we see the future of our country and through theil good deeds, we ra'ill prosper as a
nation". He is a fellow at the Berg Institute of Universidad Alfonso X el Sabio, Madrid, Spain atd a
member of the Decision Science Institute.

He lives in Dumaguete City, Philippines and is blessed with nvo children- Danielle and Manasseh.

HENRY A SOJOR
Dr. Henry A. Sojor is the authority in public speaking in Negros Oriental; He is the first
President of Negros Oriental State University, who successfully made CVPC into a state
university during Pres. Cory Aquino's time. Dr. Sojor is respected putrlic figure having served as
board member of the Negros Oriental and Consultant for the current provincial administration.
He has been invited in several national and intemational conferences. He was cited Most
Outstanding Negrense and serves as Corps of Advisers of Saceda Youth l,ead.

EARL JUDE PAUL CLEOPE


Prof. Earl Jude Paul Cleope exemplifies a dedicated man for God and country. He has held
several academic positions and presented numerous papers on history and education all over the
Philippines, Asia and the United States,

A member of the Historical Society of the Philippines, he graduated with a degree in Arts from
Silliman University (Cum Laude) and earned his Doctor of Philosophy from the University of
Santo Tomas (Summa Cum Laude). He is the Dean of College of Education of Silliman
University. He became a visiting professor to several universities in Asia and the Unitsd States
under the United Board for Christian Higher Education in Asia.

LIANE ROSE H.AYENTURADO


As Officer-in-Charge of the Training and Development, Ms. Aventurado also teaches leadership to high
school students. She has a degree in Elementary Education and graduated as Magna Cum Laude from
Negros Oriental State University. She has represented the Philippines in series of national and
international leadership programs such as in Singapore, Beijing, and Hong Kong.

JENISSA A. RETORBAR
She is the Program Offrcer for Training and Development of SYL. She joined the team in20l6
as a fresh grad from Foundation University where she finished her degree in Education with
honors.
