Wheatland School Library Three Year Technology Plan 2021 - 2024
Wheatland School Library Three Year Technology Plan 2021 - 2024
INTRODUCTION
Our district motto, “Together We Can…” is reflected in the Wheatland Middle School
Library through our emphasis on reading, creating, learning, and exploring. While most
of the dollars allocated to the library traditionally have been used exclusively for the
collection - repairing, replacing, and adding titles - the proposed three-year technology
plan allocates funds to several new technology initiatives. A deep dive into district
demographics, paired with our technology needs and current trends, has uncovered
several areas the library will be focusing on over the next several years.

Makerspace Creation
As a way to increase the goals of reading, creating, learning, and exploring, resources
will also be allocated to create a Makerspace within the library. Makerspaces provide
students a place to be innovative, apply lessons in real-world applications, and more
(Lynch). This is an area that can evolve and expand with use, but initially, the funds will
be utilized to create the physical space, including storage, and purchase two Sphero
SPRK codable “robots,” and a focus on student project-based learning. A donation
drive will help generate items such as Legos, craft supplies, and tools. This list does
not include iOS apps that will be added to Self Service for student use when using
makerspace.
