BACHELOR OF SCIENCE IN INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY

COURSE TITLE:

Bachelor of Science in Information Technology

COURSE DURATION:

3 years - 6 Semesters

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA / ENTRY REQUIREMENTS:

A candidate for being eligible for admission to the degree course of Bachelor of Science –
Information Technology, shall have passed XII Standard Examination of the Maharashtra
Board of Higher Secondary Education or its Equivalent with Mathematics as one of the
subjects and should have secured not less than 45% marks in aggregate and 40%
marks in aggregate in case of Reserved category, at one and the same sitting.

OR

Candidates who have passed Diploma in Computer Engineering/Computer Science/


Computer Technology / Information Technology / Electrical, Electronic and Allied
Branches, Mechanical and Allied Branches, Civil and Allied Branches of Engineering after
S.S.C. (Xth) are Eligible for admission to direct admission to the Second Year of the
B.Sc.(IT) degree course. However, the Diploma should be recognised by the board of
Technical Education or any other recognized Government body. Minimum Marks required
45% aggregate for Open category candidates and 40% aggregate for reserved category
candidates.

AND

Students with post H.S.C. – Diploma in Computer Engineering / Computer Science /


Computer Technology / Information Technology and allied branches will be eligible for
direct admission to the Second Year of B.Sc. (IT). However, the Diploma should be
recognized by the Board of Technical Education or any other recognized Government
body.

MODE OF ADMISSION

The admission to the course should strictly be by merit, maintaining statutory


reservations for different categories. There is no “Management Quota” in any University
Departments.

The process for admission in Government / Private aided / unaided, Minority Aided and
minority unaided colleges affiliated to this University is to be followed strictly in
accordance with office circular.

COURSE DETAILS:

This course, is of three years, and is divided into a six semesters totally, each year
having two semesters each. Each semester has five papers and the last semester has
only four papers. That brings up 29 papers in the entire three years. The subjects are
more or less, related to Computers & Electronics. So this course is interesting for those

who have taken Vocational Science in XII the Standard or those who are interested in
making a career in Information Technology or those who would like to do something in
the field of computers. The last Semester consists of A Project.

A Bachelor of Science in Information Technology (B.Sc. IT) is a kind of bachelor's degree


typically conferred after a period of three to four year undergraduate course of study in
Information Technology (IT). The degree itself is a bachelor of science with institutions
conferring degrees in the fields of information technology and related fields. This degree
is awarded for completing a program of study in the field of Software development,
Software tester, Software engineering and Programmer.
