GOWNING AND GLOVING

[GOWNING]
1. Kunin bottom portion nung gown (Dominant hand + saktong distance sa table)
2. Non-domnant support sa bottom nung gown habang dominant nag ddry from fingers to elbow [vice-
versa]
3. Lift gown through th arm hole inside out tas take one step away + unfold gown w/ open portion away
from the body and closed portion toward you
4. slip hands (tali ng circu nurse) + swing belt magkabilaan (tali nurse)
[GLOVING]
1. Open paper (don’t touch linen)
2. Pag di powdered – lightly powder
3. Using non-dominant hand hold edge of glove with thumb and first two fingers, lift +insert dominant
placing thumb and fingers at proper opening
4. W/ dominant hand slip fingers underneath the cuff keep thumbs pointed outward + lift
5. insert non-dominant + adjust gloves and snap cuff into the gloves
6. Slip gloves in front pocket of the gown

SERVING THE STERILE GOWN AND GLOVES

[Serving the Gown]
1. Hawak gown + serve lower portion to surgeon (wag touch sa hands ng surgeon)
2. Unfolds the gown carefully + Hold the gown at the neckband + Offer the inside part to surgeon
3. Keep hand outside gown under a protective cuff of the neck and shoulder area + release gown when
surg. Arms already inside the sleeves
4. Step back + keep hands above waist line
[Gloving another person]
1. Confirm right size
2. Pick up gloves w/ fingers under cuff + hold palm of the gloves towards the surgeon
3. stretch cuff for the surgeon to insert hands + hold thumb out (avoid touching surg hands)
4. step back

SURGICAL SCRUBBING
1. Cut nails + remove jewelries + inspect hands (lesions)
2. Apply (surgical shoe cover, face mask, cap, + protective eye wear) + turn of water
3. Wet hands + lather w/ soap
4. Perform handwashing (extend 2 inches above elbows) + hands above elbows all times
5. Rinse arms + hands under running water – clean under nails w/ nail pick
6. Pick up brush w/ forceps (rinse brush before use)
7. W/ brush on dominant hands apply antimicrobial soap
8. Scrub fingertips on non-dominant hand (30 strokes)
9. Scrub palm, side of thumb + finger + posterior side of hand (20 stokes each)
10. Scrub each side of forearm (20 strokes each)
11. Scrub each side of the upper arm w/ 2 inches above elbow (20 strokes each)
12. Rinse brush + hold brush w/ non-dominant hand + apply antimicrobial
13. Brush in circular motion (Brisk + vigorous scrubbing motion)
14. W/ brush on non-dominant hands apply antimicrobial soap
15. Scrub fingertips on dominant hand (30 strokes)
16. Scrub palm, side of thumb + finger + posterior side of hand (20 stokes each)
17. Scrub each side of forearm (20 strokes each)
18. Scrub each side of the upper arm w/ 2 inches above elbow (20 strokes each)
19. Drop brush sa sink
20. Rinse hands (repeat pag may water droplets pa)
21. Turn off water + allow water to drip before entering ER
