Las Piñas Bamboo Organ

Las Piñas is one of the many cities in the National Capital Region (NCR). On this City,
you will notice the rise of shopping centers, spas and other modern structures. This City
conserves one of the most important treasures in our country, the bamboo Organ. When people
hear the word “Bamboo Organ” most of them refer to the place and proximity around it or the
church where it resides in. However, in the people who lives in Las Piñas city it is a stunning
Bamboo Organ and a masterpiece that was finished by Father Diego Cera. This is one of the
famous tourist spots for museum-goers and probably the only historical tourist spot in Las Piñas
City because of its size. It was considered a National Cultural Treasure of the Philippines in
2003 and is still getting a lot of attention after 2 centuries.
Las Piñas is no ordinary City and the Bamboo Organ is enough to prove it. Bamboo
Organ is a very ancient yet fully functional musical instrument composed of 1,031 pipes, 902 of
which are made of bamboo. One of the exciting events in Las Piñas is Christmas where parol or
lantern making is part of their culture, you can see different colors of parol that are displayed
outside the Church of Bamboo Organ. Currently, the Bamboo Organ is being maintained by a
local organ builder, an expert in building and preserving Bamboo Organs who were educated in
Germany. As many years goes by, preserving the bamboo Organs will make the generations
experience this important national cultural heritage; an instrument handed to us since 18th
century that speaks of our past and traditions.

In this pandemic, all of us are concerned in our health and to our family. The cases of
Corona Virus are increasing day by day, so many people became anxious. Thankfully, the
Covid Vaccination has started to roll out now in the Philippines. The vaccine should not be sold
to the public, only the government is duly authorized to procure and administer vaccines.
Covid vaccine must be taken by all the people in our country. Why? Because based on
Department of Health (DOH), vaccination is an important way to protect yourself from getting
sever COVID-19. Even though the vaccines are free and available, there are still some people
who don’t want to take it. This is caused by the spreading of fake news and conspiracy theories.
This fake news makes people to not trust the vaccines. In spite of this, there are really possible
side effects of the vaccine which includes pain, redness, itchiness, fever, feeling of weakness or
fatigue, headache and diarrhea. The DOH suggests that you consult to the nearest healthcare
professional if you experience any of these. Beside of this side effects, the vaccines are taken
by many people and it proves that it is not really bad to our health. My neighbors and my mother
already got vaccinated and they also feel those effects but it didn’t last a day. COVID-19
Vaccines that are granted with Emergency Use Authorization EUA) by the Food Drug
Administration (FDA) are considered safe and effective based on the available evidence to date.
So, until the COVID-19 vaccines are available, let’s take this opportunity to prevent the
wider spread of COVID-19 cases. Be part of us who got vaccinated and let’s stop the spreading
of Corona Virus. Let us prioritize first the seniors in our family to keep them safe during this
pandemic as we all know that their immune system is more prone to sickness. Together, let’s
resolve and lower the curb of the cases of COVID-19.

Memorable Birthday
Birthdays are special specially when your loved ones are present on your party.
Presence is enough to make someone’s birthday special and memorable.
During my grandfather’s birthday, our family visit him at his home. Before his birthday,
make sure to buy a gift for him. We are on our way to their house and when we arrived outside,
I smell the air and saw the farm that I always see whenever we visit there, we always visit him
whenever there is an occasion which makes it three to four times a year. I really miss the view
here. The place didn’t change and the atmosphere is still the same just like when I was a kid.
Finally, we arrived at our grandpa’s house and we immediately do a “mano” to him and greeted
him a Happy Birthday. I saw how happy he is and appreciate the effort we made. This is the
most memorable birthday that I experienced in my life and I will never forget this. Because after
a year, my grandfather passed away and we didn’t celebrate his birthday anymore. He died on
March 10 and his birthday is on March 18. I just wish I could turn back the time and year where
everything is just a fine and happy. Because this year is full of struggle and breakdown for me.
Despite of these challenges, I still believe that everything happens for a reason. My favorite
birthday celebration that I experienced was for my favorite grandpa.

Explore Coron, Palawan
On June 5, 1998 Coron Island was recognized as an ancestral domain with the issuance
of CADC No. 134 to the Tagbanua. Coron Island is roughly equidistant from Manila and Puerto
Princessa City.  The Island has a rugged topography, generally mountainous and its terrain
marked by steep rock and ravines. Almost 70% of the area made up of rocky cliffs, 25% is
rolling hills and 5% relatively flat. Out of the total area, approximately 18% is occupied by the
Tagbanua as residential and agricultural lands, as rock formations almost dominate the entire
area. Large area is composed of Karst formations where swiftlets dwell and build their nest
(birds’ nest). There are vertical limestone cliffs that reach up to 600 meters above sea level and
eight (8) brackish lakes and three (3) smaller one that have underground connections to the
sea. Coron is a fantastic base for adventure, especially for underwater explorers seeking to dive
amid the Japanese shipwrecks of the 1940s. Hop a guided mangrove kayak tour or practice
your killer spike on the beach-volleyball court at Atwayan Beach. Jungle treks, horseback tours
and island camping will further quench your thirst for the ultimate outdoor experience.  It’s easy
to see why Coron has become so popular. It’s the ideal destination for those seeking an off the
beaten path destination with beautiful beaches and crystal-clear water teeming with underwater
life. In addition, Coron Island has been popular with local and foreign backpackers as a budget-
friendly destination in the Philippines for some time. Even by the standards of the exceptionally
beautiful region of Palawan, Coron stands as the jewel of the region.
