2. Insulation between programs and data
For example
one user of the database may be interested only in
accessing and printing the transcript of each student;

Large organizations
Many people are involved in the
design,
Use, and maintenance
of a large database with hundreds or thousands of
users.
In a database environment
the primary resource is the database itself,
secondary resource is the DBMS and related
software.
In large organizations,
the DBA is assisted by a staff that carries out these functions.
Standalone users
Maintain personal databases by using ready-made program
packages that provide easy-to-use menu-based or graphics-
based interfaces.
An example is the user of a financial software package that
stores a variety of personal financial data.
