There is a countless contribution of Dr.APJ Abdul Kalam to the country but he was
most famous for his greatest contribution that is the development of missiles that
goes by the name Agni and Prithvi.
1. He was the ISRO Project Director in charge of developing India's
first indigenous satellite launch vehicle.

At a period when India could only dream of having its own Satellite
Launch Vehicle (SLV), Dr. Kalam's over ten years of hard work allowed
us to create our own indigenous SLV. In July 1980, SLV III injected the
Rohini satellite into near-Earth orbit, making India an exclusive Space
Club member.
2. He also became the Project Director for two missile programmes whose
goal was to create ballistic missiles based on the successful SLV program's
technology.

Following the success of the SLV programme, Dr. Kalam was appointed as the
head of two more programmes, Project Devil and Project Valiant. The objective of
Project Devil in the 1970s was to develop a short-range surface-to-air missile.
Despite being terminated in 1980 without reaching complete success, Project
Devil paved the way for the later development of the Prithvi missile.
3. At DRDO, he took on the duty of developing Indigenous Guided
Missiles.

Dr. Kalam was appointed CEO of the Integrated Guided Missile

Development Programme after working for ISRO for two decades (IGMDP).

1992 and 1999, when the nuclear explosions at Pokhran were carried out. As the
CEO of DRDO, he oversaw the Pokhran II explosions. He mentioned this while
camping in the Thar desert for more than a fortnight:
"The testing was a 'defining event' in the country's history, second only to the
country's decision to pursue economic liberalisation in 1991."
5. He contributed to the development of the 'Kalam-Raju-Stent,' a low-
cost coronary stent that makes healthcare available to everybody.

Dr. Kalam worked with cardiologist B. Soma Raju to create the famous 'Kalam-
Raju-Stent' for coronary heart disease. The device was launched to the market in
1994, and it resulted in a more than 50% decrease in the price of imported
coronary stents in India. This stent's updated versions are currently accessible

computer to improve the health of disadvantaged people in rural
India.

Soma Raju created a tablet targeted at equipping primary-level
healthcare workers to respond to emergency medical crises.
8. He was instrumental in the creation of lightweight callipers for
individuals with motor impairments.

While India has been certified polio-free by the WHO, Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam
and his team worked tirelessly in 1995 and 1996 to manufacture orthosis
callipers that weighted one-tenth the weight of those on the market. These
floor response callipers made movement and walking less painful and
