16. OTHER INFORMATION

Paperboard is hygroscopic, i.e. it absorbs moisture from the air. It is very susceptible to change
in dimensional stability of paperboard to Relative Humidity (RH). In low relative humidity, paperboard
desorbs moisture to its surrounding. It may causes shrinkage. In high relative humidity, the paperboard
absorbs moisture from surrounding which may cause swelling. Cross Direction of paperboard is very
sensitive to change in RH. The humidity should be kept between 50-60% RH in printing and paper
storage facilities.
