a. Barrel
-  raise the flame to a suitable height for heating. This is where
gas and air mix for combustion.

b. Collar
-  adjusts to control the amount of the air entering the barrel.
It has an air hole to allow entry of air into the barrel.

c. Air Inlets
- Responsible for letting gas into the barrel through the collar.

d. Gas spuds
- It allows gas to enter the barrel and combust with the air

e. Gas inlet
- It contains and controls the amount of gas relayed to the
burner.

f. Base
- It is the burner's support and therefore relatively wide and
heavy.

B. Operation of the Bunsen burner

With air inlets

1. Regions of the
flame

a. Outer zone
b. Inner zone

2. Region Time for the wire to get red hot

a. Outer zone a. 6:56 – 7:13 = 16 seconds

b. Inner zone b. 7:30 – 7:50 = 20 seconds

QUESTIONS:

1. a. Differentiate the two types of flame produced by the

Bunsen
burner.
A yellow orange flame was created when the air inlet
was closed, while a blue flame was shown when the air inlet
was opened. The Yellow orange flame that was produced
made the iron rod red hot 4 seconds faster than the blue
flame, it also made the rod hotter when its was red hot.
b. Which type of flame is good for heating? Why?
The yellow orange flame is good for heating and
cooking. Metals absorbed its heat well, the combustion
process is faster and it allows more heat to be absorbed by
the metal. Heating process will be at ease and faster in a way.
