1. What are the global issues and challenges that beset the Philippines?
- Loss of agricultural lands, deforestation, soil erosion, air and water pollution, inappropriate
disposal of solid and hazardous wastes, loss of coral reefs, mismanagement and misuse of
coastal resources, and overfishing are all examples of human-caused environmental degradation
in the Philippines.
2. In your own words, describe the interconnectedness of technological aspect, social, political
and cultural in globalization to global governance.
- Technological development is a major driver of rising wages and living standards. However,
new information and technology do not always emerge everywhere and at the same time. As a
result, how technology spreads between countries is critical to how global growth is produced
and distributed across borders.
Social- The social component of globalization refers to the effects of globalization on people's
lives and work, as well as their families and society. Aside from employment, the social
component includes security, culture and identity, inclusion or exclusion, and family and
community cohesion.
Political- refers to the expansion of the global political system in terms of both size and
complexity. National governments, their governmental and intergovernmental organizations, as
well as government-independent parts of global civil society such as international non-
governmental organizations and social movement groups, are all part of this system. One of the
most important features of political globalization is the decline of the nation-state and the
growth of other actors on the political stage. The establishment and continued existence of the
United Nations is seen as a classic example of political globalization.
Cultural in Globalization to Global Governance- Cultural governance is the management of
culture. It comprises government-made cultural policy, but it also encompasses cultural
influence wielded by non-state actors and policies that have an indirect impact on culture. The
transfer of ideas, meanings, and values throughout the world in order to broaden and strengthen
social interactions is referred to as cultural globalization. Cultural globalization entails the
development of common norms and information that individuals use to define their individual
and collective cultural identities.

3.What do you think are the impact of COVID 19 pandemic to global governance?
- Despite the collaborative features of the COVID-19 fight, the pandemic arose in a climate of
governance fragmentation and extreme inequality. A critical Global Governance perspective
clarifies how size matters in the context of the COVID-19 problem. Contrary to the rhetoric that
followed the establishment of Global Governance as a process of convergence and collaboration
among diverse actors, both state and non-state, fragmentation has been a feature of this
globalizing process since its start.
4. Enumerate and explain the three dimensions of institutional variation of global governance.
(Read topic “Mapping Global Governance” )

Publicness- refers to the nature of the active participants in the governance mechanism. Being
an active participant means contributing to the definition of a rule or policy, or in other words,
becoming a ruler rather than a ruler. The size of the ad has two aspects. The first is whether the
participants were governmental or private organizations such as companies and NGOs.
Intermediaries are public authorities with a degree of autonomy of degrees from national
executive bodies, such as the central bank, regulators and members of the judiciary.
Delegation -points to the belief that even in large and small governance structures, ad hoc
groups can serve a variety of roles.
Inclusiveness- There are two elements to this dimension. The first concern is accessibility. What
percentage of the actors who are obligated by a regulation or who are directly impacted by a
policy actively engage in defining its content? The second factor to consider is the weight. How
evenly are the active players' spheres of influence distributed? Nearly every country in the
world is represented in the UN General Assembly and has the right to participate in the writing
and voting of resolutions.
5. What do you think is the major role of United Nations in Global Governance?
