LESSON 1: WEATHERING AND EARTH’S HEAT.

Test Yourself

Based on the video that you have watched, please explain the different ways on how weathering
occurs in the environment and how it affects rock formations. (15 pts)

WEATHERING

There are many kinds of how weathering forms to be

distinguished. Precisely, it has caused by water, ice, wind, and
plants which triggers rocks on disintegration. This process also
gradually contributes to the shape of the breathtaking landscapes
explored on our planet. Physical and chemical weathering are the
two types of weathering processes. Physical weathering is the
mechanical breakdown of rocks and soils caused by water, ice,
or other agents. The chemical reaction of water, carbon
emissions, and naturally derived chemicals with rocks are known
as chemical weathering. Both physical and chemical weathering
is mainly caused by water.
To begin with, water's physical force can break rocks and is
also considered a key agent of the weathering process. Water
can seep in between rocks to divide into pieces. If the water
freezes, the ice functions as a wedge at this stage. It widens the
cracks and breaks the rock over time. The wind also contributes
to the weathering by the force itself. They combine with other
materials, such as sand, to form sediment. As well as the plants
and trees. As a result of force on roots dominated in stone, it
crumbles. As a whole, through weathering, the Earth innovates
its physical structure over at a time.
