1. How does the change in concentration of KMnO4 affect the rate of the reaction?

The change of the concentration of KMnO4 as the time increase is in a decreasing trendfor it is
being reacted, thus affects the rate of reaction to decreases, respectively. This is because the
KMnO4 is a first order reactant that is why the rate of reaction decrease overtime

3. What is the order of the reaction with respect to KMnO4?
Rate = k[KMnO4]n
lnRate = nln[KMnO4] + lnk

4. Assuming the reaction is zero order with respect to H2C2O4, what is the rate constant and the
Rate Law expression.

5. How do the following factors affect the rate of chemical reaction?

a. Nature of Reactants
Different structures of reactants might lead to different reaction rate. Molecules with stronger
bonds will have lower reaction rates while molecules with weaker bonds, because of increased
amount of energy tends to break stronger bonds
b. Effect of Temperature
Temperature usually increases the chemical reaction rate because when a chemical is heated, its
temperature rises. Reactants have more kinetic energy so the frequency of effective collision
rises occurring a faster rate of chemical reaction.

c. Effect of Concentration
If a solution is more concentrated, more atoms are moving around. Therefore, the atoms have a
higher chance of colliding with reactant particles causing the reaction to occur faster than
expected; this is what you call a successful collision. Rates of chemical reaction are often
controlled by collision theory. Typically, increasing the concentration of one or both of the
reagents will increase the rate of chemical reaction.

d. Effect of Catalyst
A catalyst could cause a reaction between reactants to happen at a faster rate by lowering the
activation energy needed for the reaction to happen or occur. A catalyst is a substance that causes
a chemical reaction to happen in a different way than it would happen without a catalyst.

6. Identify the factor that accounts for the following chemical observations;
a. Enzymes accelerate certain biochemical reactions, but are not consumed.
Catalyst, Enzymes are biological catalysts. Catalysts are not consumed in a chemical reaction,
they just speed up the rate of the chemical reaction without being used up

jewelry. Sodium and iron, on the other hand, are less reactive metals
