WHAT ARE THE THREE DIFFERENT COMPONENTS OF SELF-

CONCEPT ACCORDING TO CARL ROGERS? ELABORATE

EACH.

1.SELF IMAGE (this is something about personal view within yourself/how you
see yourself)

Self-image relates to our whole perception of oneself, both internally and

externally. Simple as we asked our self who am I? This may include your
characteristic, personality traits, physical appearance description and especially
your social skills as a person. Examples are smart, beautiful, funny, into/extrovert,
athletic, tall and etc also on how those people around you describe o how you act
towards them.

Knowing yourself image can lead you to control, choose, apply if you need
something within yourself something you need to change or improved involves
time patience and love on it. There’s a lot of way on how we identify ourselves like
asking those people surrounded with us (family and friends).

2. SEL –ESTEEM (self-worth and knowing your value)

- Self-esteem is similar to self-image, but it goes deeper on that, according to

(Mcleod, 2008) self esteem “always involves a degree of evaluation and we may
have either a positive or a negative view of ourselves.” Having a high and low self
esteem can really change the person; like for example you have a positive
perspective of everything, it builds a strong confidence which you may use to grow
as a person since you are always confident about what may happen in the future.
You believe and trust yourself that whatever happened you know how to keep
forward and not letting those people pull you down. And the opposite is having a
low self esteem this represent as you always think negative towards from the
action, lack of confidence to face the reality and always worrying those feedback
that you my received from the others. Simply as you don’t have much trust within
yourself. Self-esteem develops as a result of important influences in our social
roles, and one of the benefits of strengthening our self-esteem is that it will assist
you in overcoming your fears.

3. IDEAL SELF (how you wish you really like/ your ambitions and plan as a
person to become.)

-The ideal self of a person may differ from what actually occurs in the person's life
and experiences. The Ideal Self is a represent as version of yourself based on what
you've learnt from your life circumstances. Mcleod also said the if there is a
difference between how you view your self-image and who you want to be like
your ideal-self it is likely that you will regard yourself less. In this part it actually
those our goals and dream as a person how you imagine yourself in the future.
