‘I want’ Exercises with Physical

Theatre Monologue
1.
“Some kinds of baseness are nobly undergone”

“the mistress which I serve quickens what’s dead”

I want to demonstrate my commitment to a relationship by

completing lowly tasks set by Prospero.

2.
“Oh, she is ten times more gentle than her father is crabbed”

“And he’s composed of harshness”

“I must remove some thousands of these logs and pile them up,
upon a sore injunction”

I want to showcase how harsh Propsero is, and how difficult the
tasks are that he has set.

3.
“My sweet mistress, weeps we hen she sees me work, and says,
such baseness had never like executor.”

I want to be seen as the idealistic man, with desirable compatible

characteristics - perfect for Miranda

4.
“But these sweet thoughts do even refresh my labours, most busy
lest, when I do it.”
I want to demonstrate that the “sweet thoughts” that my mistress
conjures, gets me through the painful labours her father makes
me endure.

This exercise was beneficial for me, as it allowed me to think

about how I was going to put together the delivery of my lines.
Overall, I realise that my character Ferdinand wishes to seem a
perfect fit for Miranda and will go the limit to prove this.
