1. The table below shows the figures for imprisonment in five countries between 1930
and 1980.
Write a report for a university, lecturer describing the information shown below.

You should write at least 150 words.

Answer:

The table above shows the figures for imprisonment in the five countries are Great Britain,
Australia, New Zealand, United States and Canada between 1930 and 1980. The table above
shows that the five countries experienced different ratios of figures for imprisonment every
10 years.

Great Britain in 1930 was at the figures for imprisonment rate of 30 but continued to increase
the number of figures for imprisonment until 85 in 1980.

Australia in 1930 had a penalty rate of 70. In 1940-1950 the number of figures for
imprisonment decreased to 40 but in 1960-1970 the number of figures for imprisonment
increased to 65, until in 1980 it fell back to around 48.

New Zealand in 1930 was at a figures for imprisonment rate of 100. In 1940-1950 the figures
for imprisonment rate fell to 45 and again in 1960-1980 it rose to reach the figures for
imprisonment rate of 65-85.

United States experiences an up and down ratio of figures for imprisonment every 10 years.
1930 was at the same ratio of figures for imprisonment rate as New Zealand, which was 100
until 1940, it increased to 130. New Zealand figures for imprisonment experienced a decrease
in the number of sentences in 1970, is 95 until in 1980 it increased again to 135, made this
country occupy the highest first position for figures for imprisonment figures.
Canada is the second country after United States which has a high figure for imprisonment
rate. In 1930 Canada was in the first position with the highest figures for imprisonment,
which was 120. In 1940-1960 Canada experienced an up and down ratio of figures for
imprisonment, from 110-100. until 1970 the figures for imprisonment rate fell to 85 and in
1980 it again up to 90.

The data above shows that 3 countries are Australia, New Zealand and Canada, have
succeeded in reducing the value of the figures for imprisonment ratio.
