Writing Describing a process Study the diagram of the stomach and write a
description of what happens to food between the time it is swallowed and the time
it passes into the duodenum.
Answer:
In general, food takes 24 to 72 hours to move through the human digestive
system. The exact time depends on the amount and type of food we eat. This
figure is also based on factors such as type, metabolism, and whether a person has
a digestive system that can support or speed up the processes of the digestive
system. At first, food moved relatively quickly through the human digestive
system. Within 6 to 8 hours, food has moved through the stomach, small intestine,
and large intestine. Once in the large intestine, some of the food content can be
retained for more than one day, or even longer. Normal ranges for food transit
times include the following: Gastric emptying (2 to 5 hours) Small intestine transit
(2 to 6 hours) Colonic bowel transit (10 to 59 hours) Whole intestinal transit (10
to 73 hours) Level of our digestive system also on what is eaten. Meat and fish
can take up to 2 days to fill digested. The protein and fat they contain are complex
