Prophecies fulfilled by Yeshua

Throughout the Torah and Prophets, God has proclaimed the coming of the Messiah. This presentation offers in table
form, God's promises and fulfillment of His promises as provided in His Word.
Life of the Messiah

The Messiah would be preceded by a forerunner

God's Promise
"Look! I am sending my messenger to clear the way
before me; and the Lord, whom you seek, will suddenly
come to his temple. Yes, the messenger of the covenant,
in whom you take such delight - look! Here he comes,"
says ADONAI-Tzva'ot" Malachi 3:1
"A voice cries out: "Clear a road through the desert for
ADONAI! Level a highway in the 'Aravah for our God!"
Isaiah 40:3
Fulfillment of God's Promise
"It was just as had been written in the book of the sayings
of the prophet Yesha`yahu, "The voice of someone crying
out: `In the desert prepare the way for ADONAI! Make
straight paths for him!" Luke 3:4
"When the messengers from Yochanan had gone, Yeshua
began speaking to the crowds about Yochanan: "What did
you go out into the desert to see? Reeds swaying in the
breeze? No? then what did you go out to see? Someone
who was well dressed? But people who dress beautifully
and live in luxury are found in kings' palaces. Nu, so what
did you go out to see? A prophet! Yes, and I tell you he's
much more than a prophet. This is the one about whom
the Tanakh says, `See, I am sending out my messenger
ahead of you; he will prepare your way before you.' I tell
you that among those born of women there has not arisen
anyone greater than Yochanan the Immerser! Yet the one
who is least in the Kingdom of Heaven is greater than
he!" Luke 7:24 - 28

The Messiah would be anointed by the Spirit of God

" The Spirit of ADONAI will rest on him, the Spirit of
wisdom and understanding, the Spirit of counsel and
power, the Spirit of knowledge and fearing ADONAI"

Fulfillment of God's Promise
"As soon as Yeshua had been immersed, he came up out
of the water. At that moment heaven was opened, he saw
the Spirit of God coming down upon him like a dove,"

The Messiah would be declared the Son of God

The Messiah would preach in Galilee

"But there will be no more gloom for those who are now in
anguish. In the past the land of Z'vulun and the land of
Naftali were regarded lightly; but in the future he will
honor the way to the lake, beyond the Yarden, Galil-of-the-
Goyim. 2 The people living in darkness have seen a great
light; upon those living in the land that lies in the shadow
of death, light has dawned." Isaiah 9:1 - 2
Fulfillment of God's Promise
"He has with him his winnowing fork; and he will clear out
his threshing floor, gathering his wheat into the barn but
burning up the straw with unquenchable fire! Then
Yeshua came from the Galil to the Yarden to be immersed
by Yochanan. But Yochanan tried to stop him. "You are
coming to me? I ought to be immersed by you!" However,
Yeshua answered him, "Let it be this way now, because
we should do everything righteousness requires." Then
Yochanan let him. " Matthew 3:12 - 16

The Messiah would be a prophet

among yourselves, from your own kinsmen. You are to

"When the people saw the miracle he had performed, they

"Therefore, repent and turn to God, so that your sins may

be erased; so that times of refreshing may come from the
Lord's presence; and he may send the Messiah appointed
in advance for you, that is, Yeshua. He has to remain in
heaven until the time comes for restoring everything, as
God said long ago, when he spoke through the holy
prophets. For Moshe himself said, 'ADONAI will raise up
for you a prophet like me from among your brothers. You
are to listen to everything he tells you. Everyone who fails
to listen to that prophet will be removed from the people
and destroyed.' Indeed, all the prophets announced these
days, starting with Sh'mu'el and continuing through all
who followed. "You are the sons of the prophets; and you
are included in the covenant which God made with our
fathers when he said to Avraham, 'By your seed will all the
families of the earth be blessed.' So it is to you first that
God has sent his servant whom he has raised up, so that
he might bless you by turning each one of you from your
evil ways." Acts 3:19 - 26

The Messiah would preach in parables

your ears to the words from my mouth. I will speak to you "All these things Yeshua said to the crowds in parables;
in parables and explain mysteries from days of old." indeed, he said nothing to them without using a parable.
Psalm 78:1 - 2 35 This was to fulfill what had been spoken through the
prophet, "I will open my mouth in parables, I will say what
has been hidden since the creation of the universe."

 The Messiah would perform miracles

"Meanwhile, Yochanan the Immerser, who had been put in
prison, heard what the Messiah had been doing; so he
"Strengthen your drooping arms, and steady your sent a message to him through his talmidim, asking, "Are
tottering knees. Say to the fainthearted, "Be strong and you the one who is to come, or should we look for
unafraid! Here is your God; he will come with vengeance; someone else?" Yeshua answered, "Go and tell
with God's retribution he will come and save you." Then Yochanan what you are hearing and seeing -- the blind
the eyes of the blind will be opened, and the ears of the are seeing again, the lame are walking, people with
deaf will be unstopped; then the lame man will leap like a tzara'at are being cleansed, the deaf are hearing, the dead
deer, and the mute person's tongue will sing. For in the are being raised,y the Good News is being told to the
desert, springs will burst forth, streams of water in the poorz -- and how blessed is anyone not offended by me!"

The Messiah would be compassionate

God's Promise
" The Spirit of Adonai ELOHIM is upon me, because
ADONAI has anointed me to announce good news to the
poor. He has sent me to heal the brokenhearted; to
proclaim freedom to the captives, to let out into light those
bound in the dark; 2 to proclaim the year of the favor of
ADONAI and the day of vengeance of our God; to comfort
all who mourn," Isaiah 61:1 - 2
Fulfillment of God's Promise
"Now when he went to Natzeret, where he had been
brought up, on Shabbat he went to the synagogue as
usual. He stood up to read, and he was given the scroll of
the prophet Yesha`yahu. Unrolling the scroll, he found the
place where it was written, "The Spirit of ADONAI is upon
me because he has anointed me to announce Good News
to the poor; he has sent me to proclaim freedom for the
imprisoned and renewed sight for the blind, to release
those who have been crushed, to proclaim a year of the
favor of ADONAI." After closing the scroll and returning it
to the shammash, he sat down; and the eyes of everyone
in the synagogue were fixed on him. He started to speak
to them: "Today, as you heard it read, this passage of the
Tanakh was fulfilled!" Luke 4:16 - 21
 The Messiah would preach and heal but His ministry would not be understood
God's Promise
"He said, "Go and tell this people: 'Yes, you hear, but you
don't understand. You certainly see, but you don't get the
point!' 10 "Make the heart of this people [sluggish with]
fat, stop up their ears, and shut their eyes. Otherwise,
seeing with their eyes, and hearing with their ears, then
understanding with their hearts, they might repent and be
healed!" Isaiah 6:9 - 10
The Messiah would have zeal for the Temple
God's Promise
"I am estranged from my brothers, an alien to my mother's
children, because zeal for your house is eating me up,
and on me are falling the insults of those insulting you."
Psalm 69:8 - 9
Fulfillment of God's Promise
"Then the talmidim came and asked Yeshua, "Why are you
speaking to them in parables?" He answered, "Because it
has been given to you to know the secrets of the Kingdom
of Heaven, but it has not been given to them. For anyone
who has something will be given more, so that he will
have plenty; but from anyone who has nothing, even what
he does have will be taken away. Here is why I speak to
them in parables: they look without seeing and listen
without hearing or understanding. That is, in them is
fulfilled the prophecy of Yesha`yahu which says, `You will
keep on hearing but never understand, and keep on
seeing but never perceive, because the heart of this
people has become dull -- with their ears they barely hear,
and their eyes they have closed, so as not to see with their
eyes, hear with their ears, understand with their heart, and
do t'shuvah, so that I could heal them.' But you, how
blessed are your eyes, because they see, and your ears,
because they hear! Yes indeed! I tell you that many a
prophet and many a tzaddik longed to see the things you
are seeing but did not see them, and to hear the things
you are hearing but did not hear them." Matthew 13:10 - 17
Fulfillment of God's Promise
"It was almost time for the festival of Pesach in Y'hudah,
so Yeshua went up to Yerushalayim. In the Temple
grounds he found those who were selling cattle, sheep
and pigeons, and others who were sitting at tables
exchanging money. He made a whip from cords and
drove them all out of the Temple grounds, the sheep and
cattle as well. He knocked over the money-changers'
tables, scattering their coins; and to the pigeon-sellers he
said, "Get these things out of here! How dare you turn my
Father's house into a market?" (His talmidim later recalled
that the Tanakh says, "Zeal for your house will devour
me." )" John 2:13 - 17

"He said to them, "It has been written, `My house will be
called a house of prayer.' But you are making it into a den
of robbers!" (v13)

 The Messiah would be hated without cause

"Those who hate me for no reason outnumber the hairs on "Whoever hates me hates my Father also. 24 If I had not
my head. My persecutors are powerful, my enemies done in their presence works which no one else ever did,
accuse me falsely. Am I expected to return things I didn't they would not be guilty of sin; but now, they have seen
steal?" Psalm 69:4 them and have hated both me and my Father. 25 But this
has happened in order to fulfill the words in their Torah
which read, `They hated me for no reason at all." John
15:23 - 25

The Messiah would be rejected

"People despised and avoided him, a man of pains, well
acquainted with illness. Like someone from whom people "This was the true light, which gives light to everyone
turn their faces, he was despised; we did not value him." entering the world. He was in the world -- the world came
Isaiah 53:3 to be through him -- yet the world did not know him. He
came to his own homeland, yet his own people did not
receive him. But to as many as did receive him, to those
who put their trust in his person and power, he gave the
right to become children of God, not because of bloodline,
physical impulse or human intention, but because of
God." John 1:9 - 13

"You keep examining the Tanakh because you think that

in it you have eternal life. Those very Scriptures bear
witness to me, but you won't come to me in order to have
life! "I don't collect praise from men, but I do know you
people -- I know that you have no love for God in you! I
have come in my Father's name, and you don't accept me;
if someone else comes in his own name, him you will
accept. How can you trust? You're busy collecting praise
from each other, instead of seeking praise from God only.
"But don't think that it is I who will be your accuser before
the Father. Do you know who will accuse you? Moshe, the
very one you have counted on! For if you really believed
Moshe, you would believe me; because it was about me
that he wrote. But if you don't believe what he wrote, how
are you going to believe what I say?" John 5:39 - 47

"On hearing this, everyone in the synagogue was filled

with fury. They rose up, drove him out of town and
dragged him to the edge of the cliff on which their town
was built, intending to throw him off." Luke 4:28 - 29

"But with one voice they shouted, "Away with this man!
Give us Bar-Abba!" Luke 23:18
 The Messiah would be rejected by His brethren

"After this, Yeshua traveled around in the Galil,
intentionally avoiding Y'hudah because the Judeans were
out to kill him. But the festival of Sukkot in Y'hudah was

do; for no one who wants to become known acts in
secret. If you're doing these things, show yourself to the

The Messiah would be a priest after the order or Melchizedek

cohen gadol; rather, it was the One who said to him, "You
are my Son; today I have become your Father." Also, as
he says in another place, "You are a cohen forever, to be
compared with Malki-Tzedek" Hebrews 5:5 - 6

"We have this hope as a sure and safe anchor for

ourselves, a hope that goes right on through to what is
inside the parokhet, where a forerunner has entered on
our behalf, namely, Yeshua, who has become a cohen
Hebrews 6:19 - 20
" The one about whom these things are said belongs to
another tribe, from which no one has ever served at the
altar; for everyone knows that our Lord arose out of
Y'hudah, and that Moshe said nothing about this tribe
when he spoke about cohanim. It becomes even clearer if
a "different kind of cohen," one like Malki-Tzedek, arises,
one who became a cohen not by virtue of a rule in the
Torah concerning physical descent, but by virtue of the
power of an indestructible life. For it is stated, "You are a
cohen FOREVER, to be compared with Malki-Tzedek"
Hebrews 7:13 - 17
 The Messiah would enter Jerusalem triumphantly on the colt of an ass
God's Promise
"Rejoice with all your heart, daughter of Tziyon! Shout out went and did as Yeshua had directed them. They brought
loud, daughter of Yerushalayim! Look! Your king is
coming to you. He is righteous, and he is victorious. Yet
he is humble - he's riding on a donkey, yes, on a lowly
donkey's colt." Zechariah 9:9
Fulfillment of God's Promise
"As they were approaching Yerushalayim, they came to
Beit-Pagei on the Mount of Olives. Yeshua sent two
talmidim with these instructions: "Go into the village
ahead of you, and you will immediately find a donkey
tethered there with its colt. Untie them and bring them to
me. If anyone says anything to you, tell him, `The Lord
needs them'; and he will let them go at once." This
happened in order to fulfill what had been spoken through
the prophet, "Say to the daughter of Tziyon, `Look! Your
King is coming to you, riding humbly on a donkey, and on
a colt, the offspring of a beast of burden!' So the talmidim
the donkey and the colt and put their robes on them, and
Yeshua sat on them. Crowds of people carpeted the road
with their clothing, while others cut branches from trees
and spread them on the road. The crowds ahead of him
and behind shouted, "Please! Deliver us!" to the Son of
David; "Blessed is he who comes in the name of
ADONAI!" "You in the highest heaven! Please! Deliver us!"
When he entered Yerushalayim, the whole city was
stirred. "Who is this?" they asked. And the crowds
answered, "This is Yeshua, the prophet from Natzeret in
the Galil." Matthew 21:1 - 11

God set a time for Messiah to present Himself

"Know, therefore, and discern that seven weeks [of years]
will elapse between the issuing of the decree to restore
and rebuild Yerushalayim until an anointed prince comes.
It will remain built for sixty-two weeks [of years], with
open spaces and moats; but these will be troubled
times." Daniel 9:25
Fulfillment of God's Promise
"The next day, the large crowd that had come for the
festival heard that Yeshua was on his way into
Yerushalayim. They took palm branches and went out to
meet him, shouting, "Deliver us!" "Blessed is he who
comes in the name of ADONAI, the King of Isra'el" John
12:12 - 13
