Main rack

 The functions done by the main rack are:

 manage SCADA communication
 receive all information acquired on secondary rack and update the archives (SOE
waveform)
 Transmission via the SCADA interface of all information acquired on secondary rack.
 Manage the database downloading. Reception through the SCADA link and distribution of
the new configuration on all other racks.
 Manage the control received through the active SCADA link, dispatch it on the racks.

 Manage the digital input and measurement acquisition.*

 Manage the control, which is directly handled by the main rack.*
 Manage the IED communication, and real time data acquisition.*

*(Not available in case of main racks redundancy)

I/Os

 The functions done by the secondary racks are:

 Send all acquired data to the main rack
 Manage the control (Do) received from the master rack
 Manage the digital and measurement acquisition.
 Manage the IED communication and real time data acquisition

12 C264-R Overview JL 12
C264-R Overview

 Master/Slave principle

The Master is requesting the

data from its slave(s), and can
also send orders (control) to
the slave.

The slave replies to the Master only upon

request, the Master can address him with
specific address or by broadcasting.

C264-R time management

 Why does an RTU needs a time synchronisation ?

 Use the same date/time on all C264-R devices for :
 Events time tagging
 Reports synchronisation
 Actions synchronisation

 What are C264-R time properties ?

 1ms of time resolution
 ± 1ms of time accuracy
 possibility of clock redundancy (Main rack redundancy)

Board operating modes

 Each board of the C264 must :
 be defined in the RTU DB (SCT)
 be physically present
 have a correct addressing according to its definition in the D

 Board addressing - Utilisation of 4 jumpers => board @ on

4 bits
 Unique rule for all kind of boards (Utilisation of 4 jumpers, board
number coded on 4 bits)
 Jumper
- Missing => 1
- Present => 0

 Example:

14 C264-R Hardware JL 14
C264-R Hardware

Board operating state

 Each board status is represented by a multiple point status (MPS)
 Ex : Board AIU Index 0 => variable AIUSt0
 This MPS status is displayed in MAIN C264 Fault panel in case of fault
 4 possible states (MAIN C264 Fault panel )
 Faulty = Board defined in SCT, physically present but faulty
 Missing = Board defined in SCT but physically missing
 Too many = Board not defined in SCT but physically present
 OK = Board defined in SCT, physically present and healthy (Not
display in Fault panel !!!)

MAIN C264 Redundancy management - BIU 241

 Only one of the 2 computers is ACTIVE
 The other one is the STANDBY

19 C264-R Hardware JL 19
C264-R Hardware

MAIN C264 Redundancy management - BIU 241

 Main criteria : SCADA connection
 As soon as the active C264 detects a communication problem, it open its
DO2 contact => DO2 = 0
 If the active C264 detects a communication problem (Active DO1 = 0) ,
the standby one became active after few seconds.

20 C264-R Hardware JL 20
C264-R Hardware

MAIN C264 Redundancy management - BIU 241

 Secondary criteria : Hardware failure
 If the SCADA communication is working on both C264, hardware fault
criteria is taken into account (Internal Status)
 Internal status = sum of hardware fault.
- Depending on the board type: DIU <AIU < AOU < DOU

 Active C264 is the one with the lowest IS (immediate switch)

- Ex. : 2 AIU Faulty on MAIN2 and 1 DOU Faulty on MAIN1 => MAIN1 become
standby, MAIN2 become active (MAIN2 DO1 = 1)

21 C264-R Hardware JL 21
C264-R Hardware

MAIN C264 Redundancy management - BIU 241

 Redundancy information

7.1) xPS / xPC Association

Goal :
 activate one SPC or DPC regarding one SPS or DPS state
 the resulting SPC is permanent

For each xPS, choose resulting xPC (column

“Controlled xPC”), for Set (or Closed) state
configure output nature (Close/Open/None),
same for Reset and Invalid.

Note :
Close output = Set output
Open output = Reset Output

Under Automation : xPS->xPC
