Surfaces to be coated must be sound, clean and free of oil
 Multipurpose, serves both as a protective coating and or grease. Any oil or grease contamination should be

Description
Nitoproof 10 is a brown/black liquid blend of selected
bitumens emulsified with water to give an easily applied
protective coating.
It is recommended that one or two coats should be applied
depending on the degree of protection required. Allow a
minimum of 2 hours between coats.
Where the Nitoproof 10 is to take a screed, the second coat
should be blinded with clean, dry sharp sand as soon as
applied. The excess sand should be brushed off when the
coating has dried.

Standards compliance
Nitoproof 10 complies with concrete curing requirements of
ASTM C309-93 when applied at a rate of 2m2 per litre and to
BS6949:1991 requirements for bituminous coating.
Cleaning
Nitoproof 10 should be removed from tools and equipment
with water when it is wet. On drying Nitoproof 10 may be
removed with Fosroc Solvent 102.

Fosroc offers a full technical support package to specifiers,

Section A : General Comments

High temperature working

It is suggested that, for temperatures above 350C, the following guidelines are adopted as good
working practice:

(i) Store unmixed materials in a cool (preferably temperature controlled) environment, avoiding
exposure to direct sunlight.
(ii) Keep equipment cool, arranging shade protection if necessary. It is especially important to
keep cool those surfaces of the equipment which will come into direct contact with the material
itself.
(iii) Try to avoid application during the hottest times of the day, arrange temporary shading as
necessary.
(iv) Make sufficient material, plant and labour available to ensure that application is a continuous
process.

Application - points of note

Fosroc operates a policy to encourage the use, where possible, of approved or licensed applicators.
This ensures that repairs are completed satisfactorily so that the long term performance of the
materials is assured. For contractors who wish to apply the materials themselves Fosroc is also able
to offer technical assistance and training, either on-site or at its Training Centre in Jeddah.

Section B : Application Method

1.0 Preparation

1.1 Clean the surface free of oil, grease and all loosely adhering particles, by stiff wire brushing.

1.2 Follow step 1 by soft brushing and blowing of dry, oil-free compressed air.

1.3 Ensure that the surface is free of surface water or bleeding. Conduct a test patch when
there is a doubt of the substrate condition.

2.0 Application

2.1 Stir the contents of the drum thoroughly.

2.2 Apply a full coat of Nitoproof 10, using a brush, roller or spray equipment. Confirm coverage
rates from the relevant technical data sheet and apply accordingly.

2.3 Apply the second coat at right angle to the first, after the first coat has dried fully.

2.4 Clean grit of 2mm size should be broadcast into the wet second coat to provide the
mechanical key, when it is necessary to cover the membrane with a screed or render.

2.5 Remove all loose grit prior to placing the screed/render.

2.6 Damaged areas of Nitoproof 10 can be readily over coated to restore the continuity of the
membrane.

3.0 Cleaning

3.1 Clean all tools and equipment with Fosroc Solvent 102.

Section C : Approval and variations

This method statement is offered by Fosroc as a ‘standard proposal’ for the application of Nitoproof
10. It remains the responsibility of the Engineer to determine the correct method for any given
application.

Where alternative methods are to be used, these must be submitted to Fosroc for approval, in
writing, prior to commencement of any work. Fosroc will not accept responsibility or liability for
variations to the above method statement under any other condition.

Project Background :
This project has been launched at 2009 by Jeddah Municipality as
a part of the municipality plan to resolve Jeddah traffic jam and
ease the traffic flow at the major intersections.
Hence, such a project required a high quality internationally
standardized materials which could fulfil the requirements and
meet their standards.
The Client, the Consultant and Main Contractor were looking for
a reliable company which could provide them with materials that
are durable, trusted and available with the essential technical and
site support at all times to solve any problem that might occur
during the project execution and give the accurate solutions and
suitable materials for the various cases.

Fosroc Solutions :
Fosroc has introduced the right solutions throughout the project
execution period taking into considerations each case separately
to specify the suitable material.
Nitomortar TS was used at Bridge Deck expansion joint system,
total quantity 1125 Kg.
Renderoc FC was used as a Fairing Coat, with a total quantity
11800 Kg.
Cebond was used as a Bonding Agent, total quantity 625 Ltrs.
Nitoproof 10 was used at Foundation Damproofing, total
Quantity 3600 Ltrs.
Cebex 300 was used for Post Tension Cables Grouting, total
quantity 150 Kg.
Conbextra HF was used for Bridge Deck Levelling , total quantity
1000Kg.
