i. INTRODUCTION
Education is both the act of imparting knowledge to others and receiving
knowledge from someone. Pandemic brings a lot of changes in our daily living and how to
deal with people. Even in the system of education changes because of it. But this would not
be a hindrance for learning process to continue. DepEd and other educational personal and
institution serves their helping hand in the continuity of the process and to start new
academic year 2021-2022 and serve learners by the use of the adopted learning modality.
Module distribution
It is the 2nd year of the academic year where we are adopting modular learning
modality. Week before the opening of classes, the teachers of SJPNHS La Purisima lend
their heart and soul and full force in preparing the SLM’s for the upcoming module
distribution.it starts with checking of modules available, recounting the number of
modules, sorting and printing the lacking number of modules. Part of it was the preparation
of the parent’s attendance WHLP and the schedule of the distribution. September 13, 2021,
started the first week of the module distribution following the proper health protocol by
having 1 meter distance from each other, listing their names in the school’s logbook,
temperature checking and disinfecting using alcohol. Teachers gives instruction on
answering the modules and the additional learning activities given. Parent shows their
support in this learning process by actively participating in the module distribution and
retrieval. Advisers and subject teachers keep their connection with their learner by getting
their contact information for their queries.
Brigada PAG-BASA
Literacy is the key factor that determine the progress of the society in the rapidly-
changing world. Brigada pag-basa project is the extension of brigada eskwela that
promotes community participation in the opening of classes. That’s why English and
mathematics teachers created a proposal regarding the conduct of this project. This is to
assess the reading comprehension and mathematical literacy among grade 7 learners of
SJPNHS La Purisima. Roma Angelica Prila and Angeli Dasmariñas together with the
team conducted it by inviting parents to be with their child in participating in this project.
Brigada pagbasa coordinator prepared set of reading piece and questionnaire and
mathematical problem for the said assessment. It was conducted following the health
protocols and safety measures.
Problems are always be part of every activity conducted and encountering this is an
opportunity because it serves as an eye opener if there are still things that can be improve. In
the opening of classes some of the parents were not following the social distancing. During
the preparation and sorting of modules, we’ve encountered several problems such as less
number of modules compared to the number of learners. Some modules are crumpled,
messed and with missing pages since most of the modules were reuse due to lack of material
for printing new set of SLM’s. Another problem encountered is during the conduct brigade
pag-basa, some parent can’t go with their child in school due to their work schedule. Also,
some of grade 7 student are slow readers they having difficulty in solving math problem
where they can’t finish the task in the given limited time
iv. RECOMMENDATION
Based on the problems that we have encountered it will be more helpful if the teacher
will make additional learning material and activities that will help the student understand
well the content of the modules. Tell the parent to please take care of the module as we
distributed it to them. Another thing id to advise the parent to set 30 mins. reading time for
their children. Always contact the parent regarding the progress of the learners and more.
