Biophysics Lab Module (4) PROJECTILE MOTION
Biophysics Lab Module (4) PROJECTILE MOTION
Motivating Activity
Fill up the following tables using the LABORATORY REPORT format given:
(1) Table 1 Range of a Projectile
So this time let’s take the challenge of performing another activity using the demonstration video we
have prepared from our Physics Laboratory room. Our task is to be able to calculate the RANGE of a
PROJECTILE fired by a projectile launcher using the PASCO Equipment available in our Physics
stockroom.
Procedure:
1.Using different angles of projection as shown by the angle indicator the GLX XPLORER
will dive a data on the initial velocity (vo) and the time of flight (t) of the projectile (metal or plastic
ball) being projected in the air.
2. Use the data given to calculate the range of the projectile as the angle of projection is
varied.
R1 = (vo)2 sin 2 θ
g
where
Range 1 is the calculated range based on initial velocity and the angle of
projection
Range 2 = vo cos θ t
where
R2 is the calculated range based on time of flight and the angle of
projection
3. Calculate the Percentage Difference between the values obtained for Range 1 and Range 2.
Answer the following questions and problems. Use the ANSWER SHEET provided
1. What are the problems or difficulties you have encountered in performing the activity?
2. What do you think are the possible sources of error in this kind of PASCO activity?
5. Which pair of angles resulted to the same range values? How are these pairs of angles related?
