Students should not be permitted to use cell phones during school hours because it can
cause distraction to other students and students will use the smarphone to cheat on tests
or exams. A whopping 35% of teens admit to using their smartphones to to cheat on
exams or tests, according to a Pew Research Center study and 65% of the same surveyed
students also stated they have seen others use their phones to cheat in school. With all the
new smartphone that have Internet access, it is easy enough to simply Google for an
answer. Can you imagine if students doing cheat on exam? It will bring some effects for
student itself and school, such as lack of confidence, course failure, suspension and
ruined academic integrity. From different perspective, some argue that the use of
smartphone in learning process should be allowed because sometimes smartphone can
help the learning process. It is because smartphones offer an opportunity to keep in touch
with teaching and learning process even when the students are not in school area
anymore. It offers students to continue learning their topic or material given by teacher
anytime and anywhere. However, it’s very unlikely if we keep allowing students to bring
smartphone in school. Some people might argue that cellphone should be allowed in the
classroom since they help students and teacher in learning process. One can acknowledge this
idea, but every student is always under the care of his/her teacher whenever they are in school or
any institution. Since the risk of allowing the students using their smartphone in school are high,
banning smartphone in school should be welcomed.
