Journalist Alazar
Shiferaw laid
to rest

ADDIS ABABA – Ethiopian Press Agency
(EPA), The Ethiopian Herald, senior
journalist Alazar Shiferaw (1967 –2021)
laid to rest yesterday at Kara Medhaniealem
church.
In addition to his family, the funeral
ceremony was attended by his colleagues
and his friends.
Alazar, 54, passed away on October 29,
2021 . He had served his country in various
capacities until his last breath.
Since 2010, Alazar had been serving EPA in
various positions – from senior reporter to
senior editor levels on The Ethiopian Herald
Newspaper. He also worked as Editor on the
Addis Zemen Newspaper and Advertorial
producer of the Agency almost for two years.
Alazar had been serving The Ethiopian
Herald Newspaper at Senior Editor
Position until the unexpected loss. Serving
the Ethiopian Press Agency doggedly and
ethically, he earned the admiration of his
colleagues and friends.
He had finalized his education and took his
BA in Foreign Languages and Literature.
He worked as a teacher at Keste Demena
Elementary School and Miskaye Hizunan
Medhaniealem Monastery High School for
more than 10 and two years respectively.
Alazar was born in 1967 in Debre Markos
city, Amhara State, from his mother Desta
Wudneh and his father Shiferaw Fikadu. He
was a father of a son.
His family, friends and colleagues have
heard the news of the unexpected loss with
strong sadness.
Ministry urges German companies to employ investment opportunities

ADDIS ABABA—-The government of
Ethiopia has called on German companies to
invest in Ethiopia taking advantage of all the
working opportunities created in the country
at present.
Holding a zoom consultation forum regarding
the investment situation in the country,
German’s big companies are called on to
invest in Ethiopia in various sectors.
Impartiality of mainstream media trigger
prolonged conflicts

humanitarian partners and impartiality of
international media outlets caused the people
in Amhara and Afar people to face food
stress, said Prof. Ann Fitz-Gerald.

Home grown economic reform alleviates
nation’s challenges

ADDIS ABABA- The implementation of
homegrown economic reform that aimed
at tapping the country’s development
potentials, has an undeniable impact in
stabilizing nation’s economy despite the
outbreak of Corona virus and conflict
aroused in the northern part of Ethiopia ,so
said State Minister of Finance.
In an interview with the local media, State
Minister of Finance EyobTekalegn (PhD)
indicated that the implementation of the
economic reform has enabled the country
to mitigate the effects of the corona virus
pandemic and the conflicts that aroused in
the northern part of Ethiopia.
He further indicated that the reform has
played a paramount of significance in
managing debt stress, improving the export
performance and creating stability in the
financial sector that was about to collapse.
Apart from stabilizing the macro economy,
the reform was essential so as to make
structural changes in the economy thereby
create new opportunities, according to him.
The consultation forum was organized by
Ethiopian embassy in German in collaboration
with Ministry of Foreign Affairs and German
African Business Association and over 50
German companies participated in the forum.
On the occasion, Ministry of Foreign Affairs
State Minister, Ambassador Redwan Hussein
said that Ethiopia and German have long
lasting bilateral relations. He further stated
that the relation between the two countries
has to be well consolidated and expanded
its trajectory to a range of businesses and
against humanity in Amhara and Afar and I
call out it to lay down its arms and surrender.

government”.
The social media campaign also narrated the
Abiy government “stayed out with its term
and he was never elected,” she noted.
ZAFU mentioned that though it might
be too soon to assess the achievement of
the home grown economic reform, he
expressed his full support of the reform as
it follows instrumentalism approach.
Unlike the previous regimes that destroyed
the economic trace of the then economic
approaches and used a clean cut separation
of the past regimes, the current reform tries
to assess each area and comprise the best
things that were in use in the past years, he
commended.
“I personally believe that giving deaf ear
and a blind eye to the best accomplishments
registered in the economy through the past
government is not a good thing. What
makes the current homegrown economic
reform full-fledged is because it makes its
foundation on those good remarks laid by
the then government.”
While saying whether the reform has
realized its goals is another issue, the fact
that it has assessed each area and goes with
the good achievements is a good start. More
importantly, despite the situations that the
nation was over the past three years, the
implementation is promising.
