SEA 8 History
SEA 8.6.4
Fixed TI USB 3.0 chipset failure to read SEA Enabled Elite security and TEDS: USB 3.0
ports that use the new Texas Instruments (TI) chipset would not read the security information and
TEDs data from Elite chassis via the USB-6251. NI suggested a change to Elite.dll that fixed this
problem but makes reading TEDs a little slower.
Fixed a problem with re-saving a file after loading a file. The problem caused some target
multiplier value to be incorrect when the re-saved file was reloaded.
Two minor cosmetic changes.
SEA 8.6.3
Fat lines on Thermal screen: NI changed attributes on the Thermal strip chart so we had to edit
our code to restore the desired line widths.
SEA 8.6.2
Elite Sensitivity Select: A bug was fixed that failed to set the sensitivity of the last module in
some Elite chassis.
SEA 8.6.2 1
Save Files: A minor change to reduce the number of clicks to save a file in some configurations.
SEA 8.6.0
Language support: Supports "Simplified Chinese” as well as Chinese.
Sensitivity Switch: SEA will now switch Elite sensitivity while in Encode mode. The switch
takes several seconds due to reallocating shared resources on the DAQ module.
Over 20 bug corrections, and minor improvements reported and/or requested by users.
SEA 8.5.0
File size selection: Normal SEA data files are quite large in order to reproduce a 64 K FFT. An
option to save smaller files is added in this release. When the option is selected, the FFT is no
longer available. To select the smaller data file size option, open the “General Configuration”
screen and check the “Mimimize file size, no FFT” checkbox.
Mode of Operation Panel: (first panel displayed when program is launched) Modified to simplify
selection of DAQ device and Lion Precision test hardware.
Top Menu: Added menu selection: “DAQ Rate” is added to the Top Menu when “Enter RPM” is
selected on the Analysis Configuration Panel. Clicking this menu item sets the DAQ sample rate
to a value that results in exactly the desired points per rev for the current RPM and then restarts
the DAQ. This allows the user to change RPM, click the “DAQ Rate” menu item, wait for stable
data and then see the exact desired points per rev. This process can be repeated quickly as the
user steps through a range of RPMs. The purpose of this change is to make it more efficient
(less mouse clicks) take measurements at different spindle speeds.
Test Displays, FFT Panel: Added RMS option to vertical scaling on FFT. When viewing files,
fixed bug so that cursor values are updated.
Configuration Displays, Target Configuration Panel: “Custom” target diameter allows entry of
target diameters not standard to Lion Precision. This change involves improved documentation,
but still requires the user to enter the target correction value for the custom target.
Configuration Displays, Diagnostics Panel: Major revision to the Diagnostics screen displays
current values and calculations for all active channels.
General change: File sizes increased to always allow full 64k FFTs of file data. This results in
file sizes around 7 Mbytes. Files include slightly more than 65536 lines (64k) of data with 116
bytes per line or 7.6 Million bytes (7.25 Mbytes) of data plus header, comments etc.
General Change: Restored text based language files. This allows users to adapt the screen
labels to their local languages and language usage. The language files are in C:\Program
Files\SEA8\Language. The files can be edited with any text based editor such as notepad.
General Change: Only the National Instruments USB6251 Data Acquisition is supported by
SEAV8.5.0. This change is necessary because Vista and Windows 7 operating systems do not
support the National Instruments PCMCIA data acquisition Modules
General Change: Software is tested with Windows 7 Pro (large memory model) the U.S. version,
Japanese version and Chinese version, Windows 7 (small memory model), Vista Pro (large
memory model), Vista (small memory model) and XP.
Over 40 bug corrections, and minor improvements reported and/or requested by users.
SEA 8.4.0
Improved top menu. Save button momentarily pauses data, saves then restarts data flow.
Pause/Run removed from menus. Allows auto-increment of file name. Allows autosave of
BMP file with same name as filename but bmp extension.
Simulate and File modes now save configuration for next startup.
View Files is static (no timed screen update). Screens will update when any change is
made (menu or buttons).
Print Panel removed from quadrant menus. Maximize panel and use “Save>>Print Screen
Image” from top menu.
SEA 8.3.0
SEA saves TEDS data in memory. TEDS data is loaded from the Elite chassis only once at each
startup of SEA, saving time for users that often load files and then make another measurement.
Much more configuration data is saved so that panels, paths etc. restore to the same state on
program startup as when the program was exited.
SEA can now be resized using the normal Windows resizing methods (pull edges or corners).
This also allows users with wide screens to select a size that results in round polar plots.
Most data file sizes are reduced from previous versions. Files will save and load much faster.
B89 Method to analyze Rotating Radial tests is not available in this version. It will be restored in
the next version.
Print report from the Automated test display is no longer available
SEA 8.2.2
SEA 8.2.2 is now fully DAQmx compatible and does not use any Traditional DAQ. It includes
support for National Instruments USB-6251 module and for the Lion Eurocard “Elite” chassis with
TEDS memory chips containing all calibration information for each module in the system.
SEA 8.2.2 is compatible with Microsoft Windows Vista. Note that National Instruments does not
support the DAQCard (PCMCIA) cards under Vista. The DAQCards continue to be supported
under Microsoft Windows XP at this time.
SEA 8.2.2 supports the “Virtual Dongle” in Elite chassis that are “SEA Enabled”. The virtual
dongle uses standard Elite drivers, so the Sentinel Rainbow security key (dongle) and additional
security driver are no longer required. The Rainbow Sentinel driver is not automatically installed
by this CD. Customer that upgrade to SEA 8.2.2 and continue to use the Sentinel dongle should
already have the Sentinel driver installed. If it proves necessary to reinstall the Sentinel driver, it
is included on the SEA install disk at d:\sentinel\setup.exe . Existing Elite chassis can be
converted to “SEA Enabled” by shipping them to Lion Precision to be upgraded. Please contact
sales at Lion Precision prior to shipping.
NOTE THAT DATA FILES AND SETUP FILES HAVE BEEN MOVED IN SEA 8.2.2. Data is now
saved in c:\ProgramData\LionPrecision\SEA8\Data for default installs. Setup files are now saved
in c:\ProgramData\LionPrecision\SEA8\Setup. This change is for Vista compatibility.
SEA 8 also supports VTEDS (virtual TEDS) files to work with existing Modular chassis.
Customers with Modular chassis (or other non-TEDS systems) will receive a second CD
containing VTEDS files specific to their system and containing the latest calibration information
available at Lion Precision. The second CD should be installed after installing SEA 8. Insert the
CD into the drive. It will automatically start and display a self explanatory screen (if auto run is
enabled, if not, run copyVTEDS.exe).
SEA 8.2.0 and higher now REQUIRE at least 1 GB (1024 MB) RAM. Since Laptops typically use
about 300 Mbytes of RAM for video support, we recommend 2 GB for Laptops. SEA is video
intensive. High performance video adapters will noticeably benefit SEA performance (response
to mouse and keystrokes).
SEA 8.2.1
Fully converted to DAQmx (does not require Traditional DAQ)
Uses new driver for Elite chassis
various bug fixes.
SEA 8.1.0 is the fourth release of SEA version 8. It includes a few bug fixes found in the initial
SEA 8 distributions plus the following added features:
