9-1 For the slider-crank mechanism shown consider the following data (your choice of unit)
LAO2 = 2.0, LBA = 4.0, LCA = 2.0, LDC = 1.5, offset = 1.0
The mechanism in drawn to scale for a crank angle 2 = 205 o . Link (2) rotates with an angular
velocity of 1.0 rad/sec CCW and an angular acceleration of 1.0 rad/sec2 CW. A velocity analysis
has revealed an angular velocity for link (3) as ω 3 = 0.5 rad/sec CW.
(a) Construct the acceleration polygon.
(b) Determine the angular acceleration of links (3).
(c) Determine the acceleration of the slider block (4).
(d) Determine the acceleration of point D attached to link (3). Write its magnitude next to the
vector.

9-2 For the slider-crank mechanism shown in Figure (a), link (2) rotates with an angular velocity of
1.0 rad/sec CW and an angular acceleration of 1.0 rad/sec2 CCW. Assume the following link
lengths (your choice of unit):
O2O4 = 3.0, O2 A = 1.0, O4 B = 1.0, BC = 5.0
(a) For a crank angle of 2 = 330o , draw the mechanism to scale. [Mechanism (b) is
kinematically identical to mechanism (a); you may draw the mechanism in the form
presented in Figure (b).]
(b) Construct the velocity polygon.
(b.1) Determine the angular velocity of link (3).
(b.2) Determine the velocity of point C on link (4). What is its magnitude?
(c) Construct the acceleration polygon.
(c.1) Determine the angular acceleration of link (3).
