What are the problems derived from drinking bottled water?

Mention two

problems at least.

• Transporting bottled water to market produces air pollution and emissions of carbon dioxide
which contribute to global warming.

• Many empty plastic water bottles land in the garbage instead of being recycled.

• Many plastic bottles end up being incinerated, releasing toxic byproducts such as chlorine gas
and ash laden with heavy metals into the air.

 What is the difference between bottled water and drinking water?

While bottled water has a “healthy,” “pure” image, it is less regulated than tap water and
significantly more expensive. Tap water is stored in reservoirs and carried into homes and offices
through pipes; it is managed by local municipalities. Bottled water is packaged in plastic bottles
and sold in stores. It includes water used in water coolers.

 Describe the process involved in manufacturing a plastic bottle.

The manufactThe first stage in bottle manufacturing is stretch blow molding. The PET is heated
and placed in a mold, where it assumes the shape of a long, thin tube.

The mold must be cooled relatively quickly, so that that the newly formed component is set
properly. T

Once the bottle has cooled and set, it is ready to be removed from the mold. If a continuous
molding process has been used, the bottles will need to be separated by trimming the plastic in
between them.

If a non-continuous process has been used, sometimes excess plastic can seep through the mold
during manufacturing and will require trimming. After removing the bottle from the mold and
removing excess plastic, the bottles are ready for transportation.

 What happens with the plastic bottles after we throw them away?

Eighty percent end up in

landfills, where they will sit for thousands of years, or in incinerators, where they are

burned, releasing toxic pollution. The rest gets collected for recycling.

 What solutions can be implemented to solve this problem?

It’s time we took back the tap.

That starts with making a personal commitment to not buy or drink bottled water

unless the water in your community is truly unhealthy.

Then take the next step—join a campaign that’s working for real solutions

There are many more things we can do to solve this problem. L

to bring back drinking fountains. Work to ban the purchase of bottled water by your

school, organization, or entire city.

 Is this problem common in your community? What does the community do to

deal with it?

Yes, is very commun. But mu community 1. Carry an eco-friendly reusable water bottle.

2. Recycle all plastics.

3. Use a water filter at home.

 Will you drink bottled water again? Why, why not?

No i will not do it, Because I want to take care of the environment

 What will you do in the future to reduce the number of plastic bottles used in

the world?
