The Agency for Sustainable Development Initiatives in collaboration with the Office of
Commissioner for Persons with Disabilities organized Shillong Run 2014 on the 30th
August, 2014 for fund-raising the different projects of the agency, that is, Mairang
Vidyajyoti Inclusive School, Rev.Amirkha School for Disabled, Mawlai and Community
Based Rehabilitation Programme, Mairang.
The run started from State Central Library at 6.30 AM. Shri. Prestone Tynsong, Minister of
Government, Meghalaya was the Chief Guest and he flag out in this run in the presence of
Shri. M. Kharkrang, Superintendent of Police East Khasi Hills District was the Guest of
Honour, members of Synod, member of SELD Department, Pastors and Parents of PWDs.

There are 1000 participants participate in this run, the participants are children, youth and
oldest. The aim of this run is to create awareness and raise fund for the schools and projects
of the agency for the welfare of children and persons with disabilities.

On this day, Mairang Vidyajyoti Inclusive School and Rev. Amirkha School for Disabled
presented a special song and followed by a song from the Band “Corner Stone”. The Chief
Guest said that, the Agency under the K.J.P Synod Sepngi, takes the initiative to work with
the person with disabilities by setting up the schools and taken up the project on disabilities
and he request the people to cooperate and work together for the better life and empowered
the disabled. Shri.M. Kharkrang, Superintendent of Police, he said, the Police Department is
willing to work together and helps these people. Smt. I. Tariang, Asst. Commissioner for
Persons with Disabilities, she request the parents to come forward not to hide their disabled
children and also to find out the facilities around them to help the Childs and from the
Government side also provided schemes for them.

The Agency for Sustainable Development Initiatives distributed the pamphlets on the
different schemes related with disabilities. After the prize distribution we had a Vote of
Thanks from Rev. B.R.L. Mawlong, Chairman of SELDD.

The Department gives the gratitude to the Jingiaseng Samla, CE Society to help us as
Volunteers and also to the Jingiaseng Kynthei Balang Pynthorumkhrah for arranging the
Refreshment.

Junior Girls
