What is the importance of evaluating data sources? How can we evaluate data sources?

You could analyze or verify these data resources after you've discovered data that suits the topic and
requirements of your investigation. When you opportunities, you must investigate the source's
reliability, validity, accuracy, authority, timeliness, point of view, and bias. Just because a publication,
journal, or service matches your search requirements will not really guarantee it's a credible source of
information. It is important to remember that sources of information comprising the Library's print and
electronic collections have already been evaluated for inclusion among the Library's resources.
However, this does not necessarily mean that these sources are relevant to your research. It is essential
to consider each source in order to determine the value of the data included within. Purpose and
intended audience, authority and credibility, accuracy and reliability, currency and timeliness, and
fairness or bias are also all commonly used evaluation factors.
