Quarantine Instructions For Ships On Covid-19 Prevention and Control
- Self-monitor daily temperature, at least 2 times a day (morning and afternoon). The
captain assign someone to record daily body temperature of all crew and send the
report to the Health quarantine officer or the ship agent.
- Limit contact with people on shore. If contact is necessary, wear a mask and keep a
minimum distance of 2m. Only those who have been authorized by the authorities
are allowed on board.
- For Vietnamese crew, who demand crew member change or whose contracts have
expired or who demand to repatriate or to go to other border gate, when leaving
ship,must behealth quarantined for14 days (from the date of leaving ship) and be
taken samples for COVID-19 testing in accordancewith regulations.
2. In case there is suspected case of COVID-19
- The captain should immediately notify the Health quarantine officer or the port
authority or the ship agent for timely measures. Seriously implement the quarantine
while waiting for directions from the Health quarantine officer and the port authority.
- Immediately isolate the suspected infected person into a separate area, do not
contact with him, instruct him to self-monitor thetemperature and health.
- Move roommates of the suspected infected person (if any) to a separate area. Other
people must stay in another area different from the one where the suspected infected
person stays and the one where the roommates stay.
- Perform disinfecting the ship, especially areas where the suspected infected person
lived and worked.
- Wastes including masks, towels, wipes, and tissuesused by crew members are
temporarily collected, transported, and disposed of like infectious wastes, specifically
as follows: Bags that contain masks, towels, used wipes and tissuesmust be placed in
infectious waste containerswith lids,liners, coded by colors and warning symbols
indicating infectious wastes inside. These bags must be tied, then put into the second
infectious waste bag and afterwards discarded in the infectious waste bin. Infectious
wastes can only be unloaded from ships by designated entities and follow proper
disposal in accordance with regulations.
- All wastes on board are treated as infectious wastes. They must be placed in
infectious waste containers with lids, liners, coded by colors and warning symbols
indicating infectious wastes inside. The bags must be tied, then put into the second
infectious waste bag and afterwards discarded in the infectious waste bin.
- Infectious wastes can only be unloaded from ships by designated entities and
follow proper disposal in accordance with regulations.
