Classroom Management Plan

Hafsa Haq
Hello!
Welcome to my classroom management plan! I created this plan specifically for
kindergarten to second grade, and since many of the time these grades are self-
contained, I did not focus on only one subject but all four (ELA, Math, Science,
and Social Studies). The purpose of this plan is to provide a system for how I
want to run my classroom. Planning it out helps me be prepared and also can
help others to understand my vision and focus. This plan will show first day of
school activities and schedule, procedures and rules that I want to implement,
classroom environment, the discipline system I would like to implement, and
how I will keep my students engaged. Obviously, this plan is not something I
plan to stick to to the t but rather a method to help guide me through the
process and something I can modify as needed and with experience. This plan
allows me to be a better prepared and researched educator.

2
Philosophy
My main focus as a future educator is to ensure that every student in my class
feels that I truly and honestly cared for them and tried my best to help them. I
believe if a student comes to class everyday feeling that they are cared for then
it will help them grow as a student and person and truly benefit to the
maximum. I truly believe in the Maslow’s Hierarchy of Needs and making sure
that all my students basic needs are met. In some classes I have seen students
who are falling asleep due to some issues at home but instead of being cared
for and understood they are just reprimanded. I want to be a teacher who takes
care of them so that they can confide in me and I can get them the help they
need. I want to truly have a classroom and lessons that embody my students
and their experiences. The essence of my classroom and focus of it will be the
students because I believe that in order to be truly successful in teaching
lessons that needs to happen.

Newsletter
Newsletters a crucial part of
communicating with parents and
establishing a strong partnership with a
students home life. The newsletters will
be emailed to the parents every Friday.
The first day of school newsletter
introduces me as the teachers and some
basic information about how our class
will be and what to expect.

This newsletter was made using

smore.com. 6
Scavenger Hunt

Scavenger hunts are a very fun way to

introduce the classroom and important
aspects of it to the students. The
students will begin to feel more
comfortable in the classroom through
this activity which is very important.

Read Aloud
Read alouds are a really important part of
the day for me, especially for younger
grades. I think that they help students
who are nervous and are just a nice time
to enjoy and have fun on the first day. The
book I chose is called First Day Jitters and
it’s a really fun book and I especially love
that it is about the teacher being nervous.
As a soon to be first year teacher this
really fits how I would feel.

8
Classroom Environment
2 Includes Classroom Library + Cool
Down Corner
Classroom Library
A classroom library is crucial to the classroom
environment. I would have an assortment of
books about different topics. The majority would
be picture books but I will also have some
chapter books that are not that long. Students
will have a day each week to check out their
books and a bag to keep them in. I want my
classroom library to not be organized according
to reading level but just topic. This is a great
example of how I would organize my own library.

Cool Down Corner
A cool down corner would be set up with a
comfortable seat and different strategies and
tools that the student can use to calm themselves
down. I would have it setup so only one person
can be in there and only for as long as the sand
timer is running.

Transition Timers
⊹ In order to make transitions most effective
and efficient we will have a transition timer.
As soon as I give directions I will let them
know that I am starting the timer and they
need to quietly and smoothly transition. It
will allow them to be aware how much time
they have while also doing their work. I
would use a sand timer because it is easier
for younger students to understand.

14
Absent Bin
⊹ In order for students to be able to catch up
even if they have been absent I will have an
absent bin with all the work from the day
before. Another student will have the job of
explaining what they missed and showing
them their work. This way students are
caught up and also they get a chance to
explain something they learned the day
before.

Classroom Jobs
⊹ I believe classroom jobs are crucial to helping
students develop independence and
confidence in themselves. I think it also helps
the classroom run smoothly. Students
become more responsible and are less likely
to act out.
⊹ This specific chart doesn’t have too many
jobs but has ones that I think are the most
important.

Noise Lights
⊹ Noise levels are very important to manage in
a classroom especially open concept
classrooms. I think that light up noise lights
are a really fun way to manage noise levels
and let students know what the expectation
is.

19
Class Marbles
⊹ This is a strategy that will really help
students build their classroom community.
They earn marbles when they do well and
follow instructions as a class. They will decide
together what prize they will receive when
they fill the jar. It could be something like
extra recess or a fun party.

Communication card
⊹ This is a method of letting parents know
how their child is doing daily. If there is any
issue that day that I feel the parents should
be aware of I will let them know otherwise
the student will receive a sticker for the day.
The students should try their best to get
stickers each day.

Student Motivation
5 Includes Among Us Imposter + Our
Work Wall
Among Us Imposter
⊹ Students tend to really like the game among us. I
love this little activity that helps them get
motivated and stay on task. Basically, everyday one
student is chosen as the imposter but they do not
know that it is them only the teacher does. The
whole day if they stay on task and do their best
they get revealed at the end and get to color one
bar. Once the students color the whole character
they get a class prize. The students who don’t earn
a bar will not be revealed.

Our Work Wall
⊹ Students, especially younger ones love to see their
work displayed. I want to make sure everyone gets
the chance. Each week students will choose 3
pieces of work they want to display and I will fill
the wall with them. Then we will redo this each
week with new work.

Classroom Engagement

Breaks
Attention Getters
⊹ Normally we just use the same attention getters in
class like 1,2,3 eyes on me. I want to come up with
fun and relatable ways to get students attention. I
want them to be excited and engaged.

Brain Breaks
⊹ Brain breaks are crucial to student engagement.
Students especially younger ones don’t have the
attention span to sit through really long lessons.
Brain breaks are helpful in reenergizing them and
getting them pumped to learn again. I use games
and different activities as brain breaks.
