Last week I learned that the parallelism tolerance value cannot be small than the flatness tolerance value from this
thread---Parallelism to cast surface designated as datum, now I am wondering on the perpendicularity and flatness
callout is legal or illegal as shown on this attached figure.

The picture you attached falls under the same idea -- since perpendicularity of a surface already controls the flatness to
the given value (.0005), then the flatness callout (.001) makes no sense.
