To Whom It May Concern:

I am writing to recommend Miss Mackenzie Thomas for a teaching position. If you are looking to hire a
quality candidate, you need look no further. I had the privilege of teaching Miss Thomas in three of my
courses in the School of Education at the University of Mount Union. She has consistently submitted
excellent work and has maintained positive relationships with her peers and professors.

As part of her coursework, Miss Thomas has completed multiple field experiences in various settings.
This real-world experience has allowed her to actively participate in diverse classrooms, observe quality
teaching, prepare and teach her own lessons, and work closely under the supervision of mentor
teachers. She has received positive evaluations in each of her placements.

When not in the classroom, Miss Thomas can be found on the tennis court making her team proud. She
is a valuable team player on and off the court. She also works as a tennis instructor with children in the
evenings. Mackenzie is currently finishing her clinical practice in Plain Local Schools. Her supervisor has
stated that she is a quality candidate and is making an impact on her students. In addition to her
teaching duties during the day, Mackenzie works in the after-school program two evenings each week.
This is yet another activity that displays Mackenzie’s desire to be a positive force in every area of her
life! Miss Thomas is a member of the Alpha Xi Delta sorority and Kappa Delta Pi, an international
education honor society. She is quite accomplished and well rounded in her chosen extracurriculars.

I truly believe that Mackenzie embodies our UMU School of Education theme: “Caring teachers live what
they believe: competent, capable, and caring.” Throughout her time in our department, I have seen these
qualities displayed over and over. Miss Thomas will be an asset to any school district that is willing to
grant her the opportunity.

Please consider this recommendation as you make your decision in hiring a teacher for this position. Do
not hesitate to contact me for further information.

Sincerely,

Dr. Chanda Rhodes Coblentz
