How to promote, manage and control e-commerce in our country?

What are the challenges


& how can overcome?

Internet has opened up a new possibility for trade and commerce, which is electronic commerce.
E-commerce involves buying and selling of products and services by businesses and consumers
through an electronic medium. Broadly, e-commerce is classified into four categories: business
to business or B2B, business to consumer or B2C, consumer to consumer or C2C and Business-
to Government (B2G).

E-commerce In Bangladesh: Bangladesh is one of the large markets in the world as population
but the peoples are not well enough for online market yet. In 2009 Bangladesh Bank approved
online payment and in 2013 the bank approved the use of debit and credit card for online
payment. Currently, three types of E-Commerce are popular in Bangladesh [2]. They are-
 Business-to-Business (B-2-B)
 Business-to-Consumer (B-2-C)
 Consumer-to-Consumer (C-2-C)
Promote e-commerce in our country: To promote e-commerce in our country we have create
public awareness about e-commerce. We have to advertise positive vibes about it. By making a
safe environment for customers as money involved. By keeping reasonable product cost,
increasing efficiency, reducing process time these are key factors for promoting e-commerce. We
have to provide supporting e-service for promoting e-commerce in our country.

Managing e-commerce in our country: In our country one has to register his business through
proper channel. Branding is another important for managing e-commerce business. To manage
business properly, one has to manage e-commerce intellectual property, trademark and
copyright. Recruiting e-commerce related professionals for customer support and order
management. He has also to ensure a banking account and make payment gateway. After all he
has to connect always with social network for any kind of update.

Controlling E-commerce in our country: E-commerce business is mainly controlled by the top
SEO of the company. There is a website which controls mainly the whole business. Any kind of
transaction among the buyer or seller is occurred by this website platform. Government’s
policies have been made to control e-Business investments in our country.

Key challenges of e-commerce platforms in Bangladesh:

Lack of trust: There are countless instances of faulty products or fake products being delivered.
Unless there is a proper framework to regulate the e-commerce platform and ensure the rights of
the customer base, It will become problematic for e-commerce business to set foot on strong
ground.[3]

Capitalization of Data: The extension and integration of the digital commerce function unit into
a core holistic brand solution is one of the e-commerce challenges.

Customer expectation: In e-commerce business customer expectation is main challenge. In


modern age the most top e-commerce site like Amazon are taking the online buying with
various shipping methods, it is very difficult to meet customer expectations. Thus, competing
with them and fulfilling the ever-evolving customer demands is a huge challenge for retailers.

Personalization factor: There is no denying that personalization is the key factor responsible
for a good customer experience. Customer can get disturbed by getting the huge amount of ads.
This turns to a major challenge to build person to person relationship.

Data Security: The fact of ecommerce raises concerns about security threats. This is one of the
most important ecommerce challenges. There is a looming threat of hackers and fraudsters
attacking the host server and not just stealing confidential data but also introducing viruses.

Funding: E-commerce in Bangladesh is at a growing stage of development. Funding is a big


issue since the lenders are not fully oriented with the e-commerce ecosystem.

Unstructured supply chain: The supply chain for E-commerce is not strong yet. The merchants
do not have proper warehousing facility to store the products, usually no formal or structured
inventory management.

How to overcome form challenges: We have to maintain some aspects to overcome this
challenges as described as below:

1. To cope with flexible technology.

2. To generate with new idea.

3. To adopt a mobile-first approach.

4. To maintain an integrated advanced analysis.


5. To ensure cyber security.

6. To ensure customer satisfaction and take feedback form them.

7. To lessen our competition and make friendly environment.

8. To develop a secure a marketplace for all.

9. To give meaning full advertisement through facebook and other social media.

10. Have to grow a brand.

Conclusion: We can say that there will be challenge in every system. But we have to overcome
them by taking some steps. Once if we can overcome this challenge through applying some
activities this can be a good aspect to everyone in our country.
