B. WHAT I UNDERSTAND?

The following are the things I understand in the topic:

- I learned that education the result produced by instruction, training or study. Teacher
teaching the students on different lessons in school (either life or topic lessons) that
are useful in the future.
- I understand the deeper meaning of foundations of education. Foundation is like
house and the foundation is the post of the house. If you have a strong foundation in
education, you can survive on any challenges, trials and catastrophe. Every foundation
of education has its function that is very important on teaching the students.
- I understand the six foundations of education which is the psychological foundations,
the study of mind and behavior, the sociological foundations that studies about the
social activities and how people behave in the society, anthropological foundations
that focus on the science of humanity, history that dealing with the happenings in the
past, philosophical foundations that talks about the wisdom of each individual and
legal foundations that focuses on the observance of the law.

C. MY ADDITIONAL READINGS:

According to John Dewey, Education is a social process. Education is growth.

Education is, not a preparation for life; education is life itself.
Foundations of Education refers to a broadly-conceived field of educational
study that derives its character and methods from a number of academic disciplines,
combinations of disciplines, and area studies, including: history, philosophy, sociology,
anthropology, religion, political science, economics, psychology, cultural studies,
gender studies, comparative and international education, educational studies, and
educational policy studies.

Psychology - Psychology is the study of mind and behavior. It encompasses

the biological influences, social pressures, and environmental factors that affect how
people think, act, and feel.
Sociology - is the study of social life, social change, and the social causes and
consequences of human behavior. Sociologists investigate the structure of groups,
organizations, and societies, and how people interact within these contexts.
Anthropology - is the systematic study of humanity, with the goal of
understanding our evolutionary origins, our distinctiveness as a species, and the great
diversity in our forms of social existence across the world and through time. The focus
of Anthropology is on understanding both our shared humanity and diversity, and
engaging with diverse ways of being in the world.
History - is the study of the past – specifically the people, societies, events and
problems of the past – as well as our attempts to understand them. It is a pursuit
common to all human societies.
Philosophy - Quite literally, the term "philosophy" means, "love of wisdom." In
a broad sense, philosophy is an activity people undertake when they seek to
understand fundamental truths about themselves, the world in which they live, and
their relationships to the world and to each other.
Legality - Implied warranty that an act, agreement, or contract strictly adheres
to the statutes of a particular jurisdiction. For example, in insurance contracts it is
assumed that all risks covered under the policy are legal ventures. See also legal
purpose.

E. MY REFLECTION AND COMMITMENT TO TEACHING:

What I have realized on Topic 1 is that I must know the foundations of

education so that I am prepared when I’m going to teach the children. By learning the
foundations of education, every problem on education will be solved because you
know the basics and what is education all about. I will use my knowledge of this topic
in the future because it is useful in dealing with the students. You must know who they
are, what are their knowledge and skills so that you must teach them well.
