Sequence Diagram

MAN Diesel’s requirements for the control sys-


tem are indicated graphically in Fig. 16.01.08a,
‘Sequence diagram’.

The diagram shows the functions as well as the


delays which must be considered in respect to
starting ‘Ahead’ and starting ‘Astern’, as well as
for the activation of the slow down and shut down
functions.

On the right of the diagram, a situation is shown


where the order ‘Astern’ is over-ridden by an
‘Ahead’ order – the engine immediately starts
‘Ahead’ if the engine speed is above the specified
starting level.
