Running Head: SOCIAL WORK

It was clear that was for African American in his reign in America, and this is on account

of what he achieved when he was president, he was more determined to ensure that America

Americans lived best of their lives and escaped their adversities. One of these greatest

achievements is that he enabled African Americans to escape their slavery status. The existence

of African in American was through slavery. This is how Africans found their way in the United

States. When they were first transported in the United States, they were confined in the south,

and this is where their stay was limited. However, the reign of Martin Luther King changed

almost everything pertaining to the purpose that Africans were meant to serve in America.

During their stay in the south for over six generations, they have intermingled with Americans,

and they were being referred to as Africans Americans. When Martin Luther King was finally

the president, these group of people who were considered as slaves were probably undergoing

the second phase of their lives. Martin Luther King ensured that these African Americans who

were confined in the south were able to move to the north. North Americans were perceived as a

region of economic opportunities because of the freedom that was enjoyed here, unlike the south.

From the narrator, his faker referred to their lives in the south as terror. This implied that they

never enjoyed lives there as they were being controlled and were owned by Americans. So what

Martin Luther King did, he ensured that Americans no longer could claim to own African

Americans. They were made free like Americans and were given the opportunity to live in the

north were freedom was for all. Therefore, Martin Luther King opened the door for economic

success to Africans Americans.

Martin Luther King also made the life of Africans Americans more important, like how

the life of an American was considered to be. From the narrator's father, Martin Luther King

ensured that Africans Americans were no longer living as black people in America. Living as

black people implied that they were considered less human, and that is why they were left to

suffer terrorism in the south. However, when Martin Luther King came into power, they were

highly regarded to have equal human likes like fellow white people in America. Having the

opportunity to migrate and reside in the north, they were freed from terrorism zone in the south

by Martin Luther King.

Before Martin Luther King was in power, black people were doomed to suffer

punishment even when they had committed a serious matter to attar punishment. It was their fate

because they could not have tried to fight back because they were aware of the consequences

they could be daring. In any case, a black person fought back when they were punished; they

were punishment even harder to suppress their rights and freedom. Therefore, he saved blacks

from being used as tools of punishment by whiles in America.

Before Martin Luther King was the president of the United States, there many

misconceptions surrounding African Americans, take, for instance, the association of African

men with a crime. White people were used to forcing black men to confess guilty of crimes

which they were not responsible for. This happened despite the fact that at times there was no

enough evidence to prove the accused black men of the criminal activities they were accused of.

However, despite these allegations and lack of sufficient evidence to support their claims, they

still made sure that black men were held liable for crimes in question.
Running Head: SOCIAL WORK

The reign of Martin Luther King was a success and a life-changing opportunity that was

granted to black men. After Martin Luther King was elected and given state powers, he ensured

that no white man could dare enforce certain crime to a person just because they were black. He

ensured that black was living freely under no suspicion of their fate if any case they are falsely

accused of being responsible for certain crimes. To some degree, this behavior by whites denied

blacks freedom of movement. From the narrator, he can recall how blacks were supposed to walk

in a single file when they encountered a white lady. This once happened when the narrator was

walking with his father down a street in New York City, and they happened to come across a

white lady. The narrator remembers that this was among other humiliating behaviors that they

were forced to portray as blacks to avoid whites from turning wild against blacks.

As blacks, living in the south was full of so many uncertainties, they never had a clue of

what will happen to them the next minute, especially if one happened to be black. The narrator

links the climate of fear that blacks were subjected to with an occasion that once happened. This

was when they were in a family meeting with fellow black relatives. They were manhandled by

state troopers over a small issue that was a matter of dialogue. However, the presidency of

Martin Luther King was to end such encounters among blacks. He was very committed to

ensuring that blacks were living a whole life without threats from anyone. Therefore, from his

reign up to now, blacks are not victimized over a climate of fear even by the state. Yes, racism

can be manifested to some degree, but it is not extreme cases like was experience before Martin

Luther King.
Running Head: SOCIAL WORK

However, the efforts of Martin Luther King were not successful because of his sole input.

Of course, he was helped by others to make his wish for African Americans become a reality.

These others were not people from native nations, but they were Africans Americans themselves.

They had to show the gut that they were determined to be freed from captivity. They had to

confront the state of the white man to make it clear that just like any other man, they understand

their rights ad what they are entitled to. Therefore, they found themselves confronting the state

on several occasions and doing embarrassing things in which they knew their fate. Take, for

instance, taking that dare and requesting to get registered as voters. This was unheard of but was

introduced under the reign of Martin Luther King. It is because of these forefathers who accepted

to start and get embarrassed that Africans Americans can exercise their voting rights in the

United States today.

However, this was not at a cost, under the help of Martin Luther King, Africans

Americans declaring themselves free from white man oppressions was not easy. This was into a

walk in the park, and it was not for the weakness. It was a journey and a risk that was demanding

once consistency. This is why many Africans Americans were arrested, beaten, and imprisoned

before it was declared that Africans Americans were free just like any other Americans.

Therefore, Martin Luther King nurtured the spirit of perseverance and the art of remaining

grounded without necessarily giving up even if it will take forever for you to achieve your

desires once.
